Do iAttys or any attys for that matter have a limited shelf life?

Now that I'm getting "the last mod I'll ever own"... or at least the first of the "Last mods I'll ever own" I need to start stockpiling for unforeseen events.

Just curious if an Atty was sealed and stored, if there would be anything to keep them from keeping.

It's amazing that I will stockpile vaping supplies, but not things like water... food.

Priorities, man...

That would be a question for someone more experienced than myself. Although I have some attys that are still kicking good that I have had since september. Your thread made me go back to some of my old 901 stock I haven't touched since my first mod was a 510 and I haven't touched a 901 until I got my GG... So I would say that you should at least get 6 months at the least if they are unused.

That's my thought too, Wood. I mean, it's an electronic device and its not holding a charge of any kind.. not sure what there is in the Atty that would degrade over time.

The primer maybe? Not really sure about that though, especially if it were vacuum sealed or somesuch. I guess the trick would be to rotate through them.

Just like to think that if something were to happen that we couldn't order them from Imeo, or even Rob for that matter... or maybe ANYONE... life would start to suck.

Waffle, atty has 2 problems or maybe more but the 2 I can think are:

rust

liquid that sticks on the resistance and gets like rock there

the rust can damage it because it will make the coil die soon and maybe stop the contactivity.
The liquid may stop the contactivity too

Thanks Imeo.

So if one was able to keep the thing from rusting, a new atty could theoretically be stored for a long long time, if stored properly?

I guess there's really only one way to find out.

I plan on ordering iatty's every couple of weeks or so, just for hard times. And they will have to be yours, because I hope to go to the AFS system as dripping drives me absolutely insaner.

Which means I will also have to stock up on AFS systems too...

*cough* *cough*

Got something stuck in my throat there... ;)

I think that an unused atty can last for years maybe Waffle:)

As for the AFS waffle you shouldn't have to stock up on them unless you just wanted an upgrade or another one for another PV. There isn't anything that should break on them unless you cross thread them and you can get the o rings at your local hardware store. They are built pretty tough.

What if a nuclear bomb hits, and some of them melt?

Seriously, Wood.. you really need to think ahead man!

Don't worry, I will need more GGTS's too!

EDIT: Or what if the Gestapo breaks in and seizes them!!!!! I have to have caches hidden throughout the city as well! Ahh!

I'm from Montana originally.. we are genetically predisposed to being just THAT paranoid!

You yanks are strange people indeed ;)

To the original question, any atty will be as good as the day you bought it if it hasn't been used with one caveat, atties are the weak link in vaping, you get good ones and you get bad ones, so if you keep an atty for one year and it pops or is dead, it has been that way from the day you bought it, shelf life doesn't affect them if stored sensibly and they are unused.

We can only hope atties improve over time, but don't expect them to improve too much, it won't be in the sellers interest for this to happen

exactly, lol this is also why the model t made in 1908 had 25 MPG and the average car today has 21 MPG......in 100 years we lost 4 MPG?!? NOPE! they just want to get paid extra by the gas companies for making you use up 4 MPG more of gas :D:D ....we could all be using zero emission cars that run on nothing but water....but then who would they sell all that gas to??...same idea applies here with atties...there could possibly be an everlasting attie....but you will never see it being on the consumer end...because then there will be nothing that you continually NEED to buy;) ...although Imeo is different, and according to another thread he is looking into a way to improve iatties life span :D:D

It's hard to pick up chicks in a Geo.

But make us a 500HP Mustang cold fusion engine and I'm in!

Yea and that's what the cigarette companies are striving for! Don't you agree?

^^^ Loser From a Camaro guy-- ;)

hehe Camaros...

Not much of a mustang guy here, honestly. I do like those new Challengers tho.

Haytoni: You are right... they will probably make them out of paper, and rig them to self destruct over anything greater than 1.5v.

i wish i could....although i do know of several companies holding back designs for engines that would mean ultimate power...AND...zero emissions, i mean formula 1 and beyond power....power that we aint seen yet from a car....power that could make flying cars a reality.....read and you will find out way more interesting stuff then what is in the wheel section of the newspaper:D:D:D
