Here is what i said about my GGTS as soon as i got it

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/81851-just-ordered-my-ggts.html#post1241959

So... today i spot 2 cans of Duraglit cotton cleaner and polish in a supermarket.

One for silver metal and another for any metals (brass included). These cans were really cheap (2 euros each) and will last long!

My GGTS was showing a lot of patina maybe from my hands chemistry and was looking kinda oxidate. I grabbed a piece of cotton and in 5 minutes i had the cotton pieces really black... I just let the parts dry for 1 minute and started to clean them with a soft dry cloth.

I am waiting for some cape cod from Lisa and will try those, but heck...every scratch just disappeared. The threads are shiny and my GGTS looks like a mirror.

ohhh.... just did a quick google search. duraglit is basically brasso, but its soaked in a wadding that you break pieces off?

if i recall, brasso is pretty abrasive. perhaps good for a real nice polishing, then cape cod cloths as maintenance?

It is not the Brasso one i guess. Here's the exact thing i bought (somehow this supermarket here in Portugal sells the Italian version of Duraglit)

The Red labeled one is intended for any metal other than silver, gold or chromed metal. I didn't use this one:
Duraglit Ovatta Per Metallo 75 gr. - DROGHERIA FARNESE

THIS is the one i used: The white labeled that is meant for silver and gold.
Duraglit - Opinione - L'ovatta miracolosa?
My thought was : the 1st one i could use on the brass, but the second one just works the same and if it can clean and polish something as soft as gold i could do no harm. All i can say is WOW...really. I had a few scratches that just vanished.

I used my bare hands and im perfectly ok. Cape cod is on its way and i will use cape cod on a weekly basis.

After a 10 day use my GG was really looking a bit kinda oxidate around the GG logo. It all disappeared.

I think this is the one in UK and USA
http://www.britsuperstore.com/acatalog/Silvo_Silver_Polish.html

They have the brasso one that might be more abrasive than the other 2 i mentioned. The Brasso is also meant for chrome so, there are at least 3 Duraglits for specific metals.

Being British, we have tons of Brasso and Silvo on hand! :w00t:

But, there's nothing abrasive about either, they're liquid. Just put some on an old piece of cloth and you're away!

Thanks for the find!!

(Now all I need is my MIA GGSS...sniff..sniff...)

Natureboy, you STILL haven't received yours? Whats the hold up? You're in California, aren't you?

Hope yours shows up soon for you!!

Be sure to use the SILVO wadding just in case. I still didn't find a way to spoil the shine!

Duraglit is a Marine's best friend. We've used it for over 40 years to polish our brass. You want to make it shine even better? Get a chunk of jewlers rouge buffing coumpound and put it in the middle of the duraglit wad. Let it completely melt away inside for a few days. Then use that to polish with. Take a clean t-shirt type cloth after polishing and buff off any left over rouge. It'll be even prettier than your pictures.

Now that you mention it. My father was a vet from colonial war in Africa and India (Goa). I used to see some duraglit in the garage. He used it to clean fishing stuff and a bunch of stuff. Funny thing is, i stumbled across this at the supermarket and when i opened it i could remember the smell! Didn't know from where, till i called my mother.

WOW Portguy, SHINY!:cool: Nice table to photograph your GGTS on too. :)
Don't forget to show us when you've tried out the Cape Cod cloths too.
Shall we start a collection for a digital camera for Portguy? :D

Come on guysssssss... Listen to our dear Lisa! My table is ready ( my wife made me shine it too as a penalty for her mobile phone's duraglit smell)!
hehehehehe, I think duraglit smells kinda nice, am I alone?
Would you mind if we used one of your pics on the GG website gallery?

P.S. I want that table, it's lovely. Too nice, to eat off, I'd just use it to photograph my stock. :D:D

Ahhh love! That table was custom made :p . Reinforced glass with a gizmo that lifts the middle section and extends it to full size...Cost me a kidney! I was in love...men do stupid things when in love.

But...a picture? One of those???? Cmonnnnnn...they are awful. Anyway, you don't need to ask Lisa!

P.S. I promise i will get a camera and a nice setup soon.

Got it today!

The reason it took so long is because Vapor Kings doesn't accept Paypal, and it would have been a hassle to transfer my PP funds to my bank account (Candian, I am), then withdrawn from a US bank machine (I am in CA), then I would have had to purchase a prepaid credit card. I figured the whole process would have been both time consuming and expensive. So, I bought from Cloud 9 and had it shipped to my sister's in Vacouver, where I was visiting.

Customs got ahold of my package and held it for a week. Then it took my sister another week to finally ship it down to me. Ended up costing me about the same, and took three times as long to get it.. lol.

Phew.

I have it now.... first impressions? It IS the perfect weight, my Ultrafire 3000mah battery does indeed NOT fit, and the finish is not as shiny and polished as I was expecting. The threads are quite dirty (some black crud in them), there are some scratches in the finish and some marks, as well as super fine lines from what I'm assuming is a fine grit sand paper. I'm also not too keen on the button and the amount of wiggle room there is.. I was expecting a tighter, smoother action from the button.

Anyway, hopefully with a bit of work using this Duraglit I can get as nice a finish as OP's. :)

(PS: Despite the condition upon arrival, this is still by far the nicest PV I've had the pleasure of owning yet.)
