Beana and I have had many similar conversations. The winter of the kitten invasion was particularly hard on her. Poor dear is a kitten magnet.

I wonder what made things come to a head for her. I suppose it's just that Cheddar is older and bouncier and braver, and Julie has just had enough.

I don't know but it has been brewing. Two days ago a dead bunny (I am sorry Ricky) was found at a house Julie frequents. It was a night she stayed out late. I fear it was her. (I asked her but she will not tell) Cheddar means no harm and just wants to play. Daphne is 11 and naps a lot. Cheddar see's another cat and thinks it is playtime. Julie has never liked other cats and barely tolerates Joe, who loves her and somehow sneaks in a cuddle from time to time but if he pushes it she whacks him.
Cheddar will have much more fun at the rescue where there are 5-6 kittens at all time just playing. We will miss her more then she misses us.
Cheddar will find the right human for her. And she will now make an amazing cat for that lucky person. But that is all thanks to you and Daphne
When Cheddar goes, will it just be you, Daphne, Joe, and Julie in the house, @chanelvaps? It's going to be so quiet.

yes, it will be just us boring folks and yes it will be very very quiet. As I said we will miss her more than she us. I am sure somewhere down the line I will take in another straggler, someone who needs a place to lay their fuzzy body and either get well or grow and get vetted. The rescue was actually trying to talk me into a tiny set of twins, mother lost, just now learning to eat on their own but also still being bottle fed. Little gray and white kittens. I declined for now. Hope she finds someone else. If she does not I might accept. It is a lot of work because at any time if they stop learning how to eat one has to be ready to bottle feed. Up in the middle of the night and all. Also the house has to be kept warmer then I like. Julie would not mind this as they are caged for many weeks to come in a separate room and not running about interfering with her vibe. For right now I feel like I am done for quite awhile and will concentrate on trapping and altering ferals until kitten season next year.

Ok last one of my Chedds girl. She knows when I need her to get in her room I will give her a scoop of baby food. When she hears this clanking around in the kitchen she takes herself to her "bed" or room
I lied about the last one. There is this one. The deed is done. I cried all the way there and all the way home. Now I will resent my cats for a few days. Cheddar is at the rescue center.
Ah, poor Sue. At least Daphne is there to comfort you.

My grandma still laughs uncontrollably when she talks about Bugs getting out of his cage when I had him separated in the one house for those couple months. He goes to mount Stevie nicks but she turned the tables on him and bucked him off her back then threw him against the wall a couple more time ripping a bunch of his fur off in the process. Then he ran back in the cage and into his hidy house shaking from fear with Stevie still going after him to continue beating on him but lucky I came and locked his cage back up just in time. Poor bugs didn’t come out for ages and Stevie was trying to open the cage with her teeth for a while rattling the cage and scaring bugs even more.
He never tried any funny business with Stevie nicks again
