I’m just not sure what the deal is with that. There is no fabric I know of that would make an acceptable barrier. I’ve looked for some sort of reliable information but all I can find are loads of Facebook posts and links to dry websites articles.
I get that they could be used over a real mask, but why? How would that be breathable? Why would anyone use these not knowing where they came from, what they’re made of, or if they could be sterilized?
I try to ask these questions in my crafting groups but all I get is static.
I did get this guy threaded and it runs. My step-grandfather wired it in the 60’s. It smells like vintage electrical fire. I need some of that stuff to keep the belt from slipping. Maybe if I can find a replacement belt for the original treadle, I’ll get one. I’d rather run it that way. Very cool old thing though. Sews quiet and straight.
. It’s a brother that supposedly does simple embroidery/initials, automatic button holes... a bunch of stuff I can’t figure out, cause I never can get it to behave lol. I have a 90 yo singer travel machine I usually use instead. It’s a trooper! No bells and whistles outside of the buttonhole jigs, but I can actually work it. It would sew through concrete I think. It whipped through 3 layes of marine vinyl.
