so i was just sitting here thinking how some of these companies come up wit shipping prices...as of right now i am not gonna say any names except on the good side... I ordered from 2 different suppliers one this weekend on on thur/fri and the other (freedomsmokeusa) on sunday. the shippin charge for company 1 was $7.00 for a 5ml ejuice and a 5pack of cartos. the freedomsmokeusa charge was only $4.00 for a 5ml ejuice.

but here is the kicker not only was the freedomsmokeusa shipping cheaper but it was sent using priority mail from Arizona where as the other company sent regular mail from right here on the east coast where i live. so why am i paying more for a cheaper service?

they both are supposed to be delivered today.... 5days for the more expensive shipping (not including the day i put the order in)
and 3 days from all the way across the country for the cheaper shipping....

I jst dont get it....

all i can say right now is Kudo's to Freedom Smoke USA and ...hmmmmm to the other company.....

I pay close attention to shipping charges when I order now. One place I ordered from in the past charged $10 for shipping and it took 5 days. Another place (Rocky Mountain Vapor in this case) doesn't charge once the order is over $14. I order from them a lot now and I get my order very quickly, usually 2 days later. Two guesses as to who I ordered from when I bought another eGo kit. THe difference in shipping cost was worth it.

The outrageous shipping charges from some companies are the reason I refuse to order from some companies even though I know their products are good. Just be upfront from the beginning, charge a bit more for the product if you must; but don't use smoke and mirrors to get more money from a customer through over-priced shipping. I like to try new cartomizers and other small items from new suppliers, but I am not going to pay $7 or more to have one small package delivered. It says something about the company's trustworthiness when they do that. It's like thinking you got a good deal on Ebay then finding the shipping is more than the product.

I would like to see a thread devoted to those vendors who offer free or low cost shipping. I would go to them every time. www.lecig.com offers free shipping as a starting point.

yea inm with you on that...and i dont even need free shippin cause i know some of these companies are small buissnesses and they are trying to keep us happy and stay afloat. but at the same time 7.00 for regular mail is a lot more than shipping actually cost them.

4.00 for priority mail is fine wit me you get ur product fast and the company doesnt lose any profit by having to cover shipping..
even if they are getting a lil profit off the 4 dollars thats cool cause u have to pay for convenience no matter what you are buying...

Most companies charge for shipping costs, packaging, the supplies for packaging and a little something extra (even if its only 5 cents) to help cover any employee costs.

IMO, this has been some of the experiences that i have had at a few places of business.

To reiterate what was stated previously, RockyMountainVapor, has free 1st class parcel shipping on all orders over $14(and it ALWAYS is shipped same day of order and arrives within 2-3 business days). They do offer upgrade Priority mail for $4.95(which is what is ACTUALLY costs them) if you absolutely need it for whatever reason. This is now the only place from which I order my liquids and atomizers.

Another place that offers a similar set-up is LitecigUSA.net

I wish more companies took the ProVape approach. While I've never ordered from them...I was tracking their thread when the LR cartomizers were announced. A few ECF members expressed that their shipping was too high for a few cartomizers, so they immediately started offering a smaller package shipping fee.

That's listening to your customers!

Vendors should differentiate by weight. If I buy a bottle of juice, atomizers, or cartos...have a smaller charge for shipping. If it's batteries, chargers, or mods...then charge a bit more. I have no problem paying more for a mod, which not only has to be packaged better than juice, but weighs more as well.

that's my only complaint about V4L. All costs are flat fees, not done by weight.

Homeish now
This has been debated a few times...Points for the venders...

It's covering Shipping and Handling....someone is pulling the stock, packaging it, weighting it, and labeling it. That takes man hours. It doesnt magically happen.
The cost of packaging, bubble wrap, boxes and envelopes
Driving down to the Post office at least once, if not twice a day.
Those cost remain the same no matter how much your purchasing.

Customers have the choice to purchase from who they wish...but venders have to make a profit. Profits are wrapped in there somewhere be it in the shipping or the flat out costs but it's always there.

And dont be silly an purchase 5ml's of juice at a time...of course shipping is going to bite.

Shipping by weight.....
PO first class..
<1oz 1.22 (they start here)
2 oz 1.39
3 oz 1.59
4 oz 1.73

So...shipping weight isnt were the Cost is for companies.
Your asking for More work, asking to ship by weight...for very little cost saving.
As far as they see it it's about the durn same cost and work to ship you 5ml of juice...or 15 different things.

Handling and incidentals(post office trip time, gas, etc...) should already be calculated and included in the price of the product. And USPS priority flat rate box costs $4.95(price of box included) and I'll grant 10 to 15 cents a package for bubble packaging and tape. Why can some suppliers seem to understand this and others can't.

Make a profit!?!?! I have the 2009 and 2010 wholesale price list from Lina at Joyetech. I'm not going to outright post it, as I would probably get in hot water. Suffice to say, even considering shipping from China, DOA loss, some customs loss and other business expenses; this is(i.e. e-cig/eliquid sales), WITHOUT QUESTION, an extremely profitable enterprise. They have very little overhead and are selling direct to consumer via the web(the most profitable retail scenario that, most likely, has ever existed). We're talking triple digit profit margins across the entire product line.

I'm more then willing to support these small business's and pay a premium on these products(as I'm still saving a bunch over analog cigs -as well as the assumed health benefits), just don't insult insult my intelligence with an over the top shipping charge.

It is hardly silly to purchase a small order. Sometimes, it is all I can afford. If that small order is going to cost me double its price because of shipping, I don't buy from that supplier. Vendors need to make a profit on the cost of the product, not by adding bogus shipping charges.

lol don't get me started on shipping costs. i was at a site the other day to order a small ml of juice to sample. $7 shipping. don't think so ;)

can't tell you how many full shopping carts i've backed out of when it calculated shipping for small items. Some ppl will gladly pay it - i won't.

i understand the cost of doing business, but if ecig vendors want us to cut them slack for everything else they 'don't do because we are small industry" then quit acting like you're big boys with your prices and shipping costs.

volume sells. many vendors like GP, Widow, ecigupply and a few others know this and they can't keep product in stock because product flies off the shelf ;)
