This may sound really odd but I am starting to get a bit concerned...For the past few days I have been using my screwdriver clone with an adapter so I can use a 510 carto. I have only been using it with the 3.7v 900mAh battery that it came with but lately I have noticed a little shocking/buzz sensation on my lips when i am pressing the button to inhale. This is the same kind of sensation you might feel when licking a 9v battery, just not quite as strong. Should I be concerned?

I know it may sound ridiculous but I have this fear that I am going to like electrocute myself or something outrageous. I have changed out the carto and used the other battery and I still occasionally get this little tingle...what gives? This only happens when I use the adapter and the 510 carto so I am guessing it has to be the adapter or something...should I give up on the carto and stick to the 901/808d atty or can I do something to get rid of the buzz? Is the buzz dangerous?

If you haven't, use another carto. I've had this problem before (it almost feels like a burning sensation to me, but when I felt the carto it was cool, not warm what so ever. Once I changed the cart, it was fine. Also, don't worry, no harm will come to you from that =P

Lol, tons of people say that xD

Anyways, where did you buy your adapter, also, have you tried a different adapter to see if you get shocked then?

Maybe you are using a Boge 510 cartomizer. They make a crackling sound when you draw on them. Sometime they also make a little snap. If that's your case, don't worry. That just tells you they are working good. You are more likely to hear it on a strong battery and also when the cart is good and wet.

I don't recall ever licking a 9 volt battery, so I can't make that comparison, heheh.

Thanks to everyone for the input! I wrote the company that I bought the screwdriver and the adapter from and they said they had never heard about this kind of thing before and will look into it. I'm glad to know it won't hurt me but would still like to find a way to get rid of this sensation! It's making my teeth feel super sensitive.

Btw, how can I tell if it is a boge carto? Are there any identifying features, aside from the crackling?? I bought them from Rocky Mountain Vapor but they do not specify the brand on their website or the box that the cartos came in...

Thanks again!

Check ur adapter to make sure the isolator piece is still in tact and surrounding the entire center piece, but I too, have had this issue...strange, huh? But Ive had zero issues bc of it. Not sure what causes it but Ive only had a handful of cartos do this so in my case it wasnt the mod or adapter...I dont think anyway ;)

Thanks CrashTestJeep!

I was actually just cleaning out the threads in the adapter and accidentally pushed the whole little center thing through...I have put it all back together and it's still shocking!

I think I will order another adapter next time I place an order somewhere and see if that might be the deal! Thanks again and have a happy 4th!

SLB Cartos have a brass/gold thread. While the Boge ones have an aluminum/silver thread. So that is generally how you can tell the difference between 510 cartos at this current point in time.

The SLB have a horizontal coil design which goes across the carto. The Boge have a wire/coil that runs along the length of the carto. I think the Boge design is more common. No clear verdict yet on which is better. Some people prefer one over the other for various reasons. Personally I prefer the SLB's. Mainly because on my L88B batteries the draw is a bit harder from the Boge cartos. Aside from that they both work great!

Also if this is making your teeth sensitive I'd imagine something is definitely going on that is outside the norm. Have you tried using a different PV to see if the sypmptoms disappear? It seems unlikey, but you could rule out the possibility of some kind of dental issue that way.

Thank you Danyulc, I think you are right...they are Boge, from what I can tell. I use them on my other batteries, like a standard 510 manual, a stick with an adapter and even with a auto battery and 4081/510 adapter and there is no shocking... I am starting to believe that there is an issue with the adapter X( Not to worry! Will pick up another one soon!

Thanks again for all of your input!!

Update on this thread...after waiting for two months with no response from Domestic Vapor about this crazy screwdriver situation I am going to have to take DV off my list of favorite suppliers and will be retiring this device. As it turns out, this screwdriver still produces a weird shocking sensation even when I use a 901 carto and not just when I use the 510 carto with the 901/510 adapter.

Thanks again to all who offered advice!
