So I've been using my new Mini 2.1 LP for a week and a day now, and now that I've finally made my requisite 5 new ECF posts, I figured I'd introduce muself as a Reonaut.
My path here was pretty short. With a 25-year 2.5 PAD habit, I picked up a Blu disposable over the July 4th weekend for a trip to a venue where I wasn't sure smoking was permitted. Thought to myself, "I could probably get by on this," and almost impulse ordered the Blu rechargeable the next day before doing some reading and finding out the failure rate for heavy smokers with cig-alikes. Ordered a Halo Triton starter kit and juice, instead, after seeing good things posted here about the lack of hassle getting started with them. Got impatient waiting for it to arrive and picked up a cheap Evod clone multi-volt battery, a couple of iClear 16s, and some really lousy juice at a local vape store. (That juice fouled the iClears in an afternoon to the point where I couldn't get anything out of them, and it did the same thing to my RM2 coil when I tried it again out of curiosity.)
Was relieved that the Halo products were much better when they arrived, and I was able to stop the cigs with them. Still, I was not liking the top-coil tanks after a week, and I started looking for others that would fit the Triton batteries. Found out I could get Aspire ET-S's on there and an Aerotank Mini with a bit of difficulty. Found out I much preferred those dual bottom coils, but I wasn't crazy about frequently replacing them or going through the trouble of popping them open to dry burn. Gurgling/flooding was also an issue with less-than-half-full tanks on the Aspires, and capacity is pitiful on the Aero Mini. I also picked up a 1300mAh vv spinner batt and a 510 original Aerotank with a CraftVapery subscription. But the charge life on that VV wasn't really all that great, and the whole setup is just too unwieldy to be pocketable.
The main thing I was missing, though, coming from the cigs was the ability just to take a short, quick draw and have the hit be there. I'm surely no cloud chaser, but I find having to suck on something for 5+ seconds to get the delivery to which I've become accustomed is frustrating and can become a continual interruption in conversation. It also bugs me when I see other people doing it. I'd sort of resolved myself to the situation, though, since I thought the only way to overcome it would be via dripping at low ohms, and I knew dripping would never be practical for me. Then I saw a couple of vids of people using Reos and getting what appeared to be exactly what I wanted out of them.
To summarize already overlong story: I found this forum an invaluable source of information on what I'd need to get started. I hemmed and hawed a lot over whether to get the Grand or the Mini, read the pros and cons of each. I was leaning toward the smaller form factor but was worried over tank/battery capacity. I finally let the availability of an engraved brass door on a black wrinkle LP mini be a deciding factor. Also worried about whether lack of regulation/voltage drop would be an issue. Stopped thinking about it all and hit the order button with a sanded-to-brass RM2 and brass button cover, and ample spare parts last Tuesday.
Big thanks to Rob for getting it in my hands by last Friday (no mailman stalking) and for very kindly and without fuss sending a new button cover when I couldn't locate it in the package. Had it all firing to my supreme satisfaction within hours. I also ordered some of the larger-capacity, square spice bottles which were much-discussed, here, and I got those fitted and working without leaks the next day.
So, my experience is: I take this thing to work with a full battery and don't need to change it until I come home. With the AW 18490s and a 0.9 ohm coil, I'm finding I notice the drop at around 3.6 volts and switch out then. Same thing goes for the square bottles; a full one will last me to the end of the work day and to spare, although I'd probably need to switch out the regular 3ml bottle once. I do keep an extra battery and a couple bottles with other flavors in my bag in case I do need a switch, and it's minimal hassle to do so. Didn't take more than a couple hours to get used to squonking.
The performance I wanted is all there and more. Huge flavor is a welcome bonus. Total length of road to Reoville: five weeks of prior vaping on about $200 bucks of other hardware. Not too bad. Thanks so much again to Rob and to this forum.
