I prefer longer, THINNER, wicks. I tried thicker wicks, like 3mm, but I've found I prefer multiple 1mm wicks over a single 3mm... Who knows why, just works better for me. I like the wicks longer, as it delays the need to tilt-a whirl your tank for a little longer. But once you get down to half-empty, I think all top coil clearos are gonna need to be tilted and swirled around to get the wicks nice and saturated...

I have seen posts on here where people pull one of the strings out to make the wick thinner but I never tried it as the nova didn't work well for me. Also I think I read that bottom coils have a cooler vape because the vaper has farther to go to get to your mouth thus cooling it a bit before you inhale. Good luck and I hope this helps:)

It is true that the bottom coils have a cooler vape. I have noticed I tend to compensate for that by cranking up the voltage a bit more... Not always with the results I was hoping for. Too much throat hit, maybe a bit burnt... Seems the sweet spot is much smaller with bottom coils... The top coils have a better vape experience, but the twisting and turning is a pain in the rear end... Trade-offs with each variety...

So... (and please forgive my ignorance)

The "strings" for lack of a better word, hanging down inside my new clearo are the wicks in question??

And since they are hanging from the top, that means the one I bought was a top-coil version, yes?

Either way, the vapor production from the baby is SUPER compared to the atomizer that came stock with my eGo-T. Of course, this new juice may have something to do with it... lol

on a Nova - i like 3 wicks. I use unbleached wool that i have boiled a few times and like them to reach to the bottom of the tank.

on my A7 RBA's i like the wool with a small piece of oxidised ss mesh in the middle and the coil wrapped onto that. Those are a lot shorter because they have to fit into a small cup to wick.

on a tank RBA - like one from Smoketech - it has a long wick that runs from the top thru 2 holes all the way to the bottom of the tank.

All 3 work well. The thing to practice until you are sick to death of it and can make them well, is making nice looking coils that will burn evenly and well in any head. Once you can do that you are well on the way and which system you choose to use is really then just a matter of your own personal preference for wick materials and which PV you like to use.
