Shorted Atty?

At work I notice my atty is flooded so i blow it out and add a few drops and now it's giving me a faint sizzle and a very little bit of smoke. I'm thinking i got some crud in it or it's just dirty and the coil is shorting out? I've soaked it in iso for 2 hours and I'm getting the same thing. Is this my first dead atty?

You need to put a meter on it to see what the Ohms are, then you will know.

what will i know? it's not getting warm, glowing or eating cookies but still sizzilling just a little

iso won't remove the burnt on stuff. You need to dry burn it.
