Shorted Out My RGLP

Like an idiot my RGLP and RM3 were too perfect so had to F it all over.

I get the brilliant idea to put knurled screws in and they are too high so when I screwed the cap back on it was touching the cap.

I hit the switch and hear a pop sound...can't even describe it.

I look at the mod and my spring basically pancaked due to the short.

Is the spring bad now? Did the short compromise it's spring/conductivity integrity? Can I pull the spring back up or will it just snap.

$5 bucks for a new spring....I feel like such a dunce.

The spring collapses on purpose to break the connection in the case of a short like this. If it hadn't, the battery might have gone pop instead of your atty.

LIke Trunk says - it's toast.

The spring collapsing is a good thing. It takes the battery out of the equation when a short occurs.

It's good to have an extra spring handy.

When you build your coils - test them twice. Once when you make first make them and again with the cap and driptip on, before you fire them on a mod.

Some metal driptips in the past have cause the exact same thing and caused springs to short.

Your spring screw is fine you just need a new spring

My first spring ever got toasted in my Mini 2.1 by a brand new SMOK carto a while back. Already had 3 backup springs on hand, have 2 more coming. Cheap insurance.

Do not pull the spring back up as it's ability to act like a fuse is now gone.
