So a couple weeks ago the spring in the button assembly finally gave out. A dying atty shorted the batteries, causing the spring to collapse. Upon stretching it slowly back to size, it snapped. F.

I toyed with ideas after failing to find a replacement online (I mean, the spring lasted a year and a half...I never expected it to go, so it was the one thing I didn't have available).

The spring from a ballpoint pen was my girlfriend's idea.

Simply bend the spring over on itself, insert the ends into the grooves where the original spring was and solder in place. You may have to clip the spring to a good length before soldering. Otherwise, when the unit is closed, it may flex and touch the side of the XHaler and short the batteries.

Photos attached. I don't know that this is ideal, but I've had zero complications since securing it in place, and it was my only option in a pinch. It bends a little over time, but looking up from the bottom, there is no way it will touch the battery housing and short.

Hey Drew, just a quick follow up -- the new spring you sent feels more durable, did you switch to a heavier one?

Also, you have sold me on the original Janty 801/302 atty...they perform seemingly identically to the 302's I've come to love.

Do you (or anyone reading) like the whistle drip tips? I actually only use the drip tip because the rubber washer keeps it in place while the original plastic tips can slip out, but I like how thin the originals are at the tip.
