Shorties: Air Flow Notch vs. No Notch

Quick question on the shorties...

I really like the size and feel of the shorties, I received one as a nice extra on an order a while back. It had an air flow notch and I was an instant fan so I ordered some more.

My order came in, and the newer ones were slightly longer (don't care about that, still plenty shorty) and didn't have the air flow notch.

The big functional differences without the notch were a tighter draw...no big deal...and they are really really loud when you draw on them. It sounds like I turned on a vacuum when I draw (slight exaggeration).

Is there a story on this? Are the older type with the notch still available? Or was V4L phasing them out - maybe the notched ones were the ones with the little switch problem that folks were posting fixes for? Love the shorty, hate the noise.

I'm guessing the "notch" you're referring to is the slot in the battery post. Those are older design. None of the newer V4L ones have them. Instead, they have bigger air-holes by the threads.

I'm a fan of the slotted autos as well. But I think if you want those, you'll have to get the stock KR8's, but they only have 5-sec cut-offs.

Yes, by "notch" I mean the slot in the battery post. So even the new regular size autos don't have the notch? I thought at one point they were considering adding the notch even to the manual batteries? Now they've removed it completely from the autos?

Has anyone else had issues with the noise from the newer air-hole only designs? The air flow noise is seriously loud.

yeah the loud noise kinda sucks, if im watching tv with my wife she says im always sucking on that thing haha

I really like the new shortys. Although they are loud i woke up last night and vaped downstairs where my dad was sleeping on the couch and was trying to be quiet. No such luck the first drag he woke up! But i like the sound its kinda like what a analog sounds like in tottal silence. It was funny. But i love love love the hit i get off these little guys and i notice when i take about one cig worth of puffs I feel the nicotine just like one analog! Its cool but my manual still tops it!
