Congratulations are in order Leaford! IMO you guys hit it just right. These are similar in draw to the old style autos, perfect switch activation, great draw, almost exactly what I get when I modify my other ones. I have a couple phone pics to show some differences. The one shows the differences in the center post. The new ones have the small hole with a groove running around the center, not a slot across like the old ones. The length as you can see is longer than the super short black ones are but the the same as all the other shorties. And the side airholes didn't show in my phone's pics, but they are about half as big as the last shorty autos. The copper looks great , as do the chrome and gunmetal. Top to bottom are new copper, new chrome, new gunmetal, and old black. Now just quit changing the airholes and make them all as short as the black ones!

I actually never had one of the regulars, but it is almost exactly like the old auto shorties. A little bit tighter draw than my manuals but still real easy and the switch activates almost effortlessly. I'm pretty finicky about my little autos and I'm not even going to mess with these a bit. Actually going to go order a couple more today I think. Just waiting on an answer from Steve regarding replacing one black shorty I got 2 weeks ago that won't shut off with one of these in gunmetal instead of black. So in advance, anyone that gets one of these ones and doesn't like it, just let me know! In fact if anyone is really interested, I have 2 bottles of TV juice here I'll trade for one of these little babies. Just PM me for details.

I agree--got my first autos today. Copper shorties. Nice draw--very much like a regular cig (if I remember correctly). with my black blanks on the coppers I look like a Saints fan! Goooo Saints!

Actually I am a Browns fan and it is hard to actually agree with a Steelers fan---but you got Wisconsin going for ya so it ends up even!:D

Ddubya, do you have any problems with carts threading on? I had only used the one when I wrote this but then tried some of my others I just got and the carts won't thread on far enough to work. Not every cart either. And the carts that won't thread on these, thread perfectly onto my other batts.

I have a battery like that. I always wondered, but I just use a different battery, or I just pick a different flavor..LOL

OK, a quick update, After a half hour of threading 20 different carts on batteries. Off and on and off and on, they're getting better. I think the threads are just cut a little sharp in the batteries. You can actually see material building up in the threads, either from the carts or batts, IDK. I think in time they'll be fine.

I just got two white auto shorties today....and as per my request...I got orange LEDs. Put on a white carto....and my Marlboro Lights days have returned. Got tired of people looking at me with my chromes and green lights. Ahhhhhhh....brings back memories. :D

Good draw....and I no longer need to make condom rings to restrict airflow. However, I also got one with finicky threads. Will take some cartos....and not others. Will need to play with it and see if it improves before I go asking for a replacement.

That's exactly what I was referring to maxx. 5 of my 6 are like that. I just keep screwing carts on and off as far as I can with the difficult carts, cleaning the shavings out of the threads, and they're getting better. I'll wait a week or two and if it doesn't fix itself then I'll think of a replacement. It really has gotten better already.

I really like the new shorty manuals. I think the draw is much improved over the last batch, and the button seems very sturdy and it is making great contact. I have a problem with many of the buttons on my XLs (not turning the battery on), and I can see a huge improvement on these. I seem to be having the same carto problem as the rest of you, but if I force it they screw right on. The copper is beautiful ;) It looks fantastic with the dark brown cartos, lol.

Thanks, everyone! I am very happy with how these turned out, overall. The threading issue is upsetting, but it seems limited to just a few bad ones. At least, I haven't come across it in any of the several I've tried. But I've forwarded your posts about it to our engineer, and to the manufacturer, so hopefully we can figure out how to prevent those sort of manufacturing errors in the future.

I did a search on "battery threading" and ended up here. Good to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I am on cart#2 from my current 5-pack of Premium Cowboy carts and it won't even thread onto my new white shorty at all. After 5 minutes of trying to screw it on my chrome regular, it finally worked. No problem at all with my black regular. Cart #1 from this same pack fit the shorty and both regulars with ease!

Update: before submitting this post I did try, try again with the cart on the shorty and it finally threaded on. There is resistance but it is improving a little every time I remove it and then screw it back on.

These three batteries were received separately in the last 2 weeks, if that helps.

Auto White Shorty 5/8 (single logo - with crown)
Auto Chrome Regular 5/3 (single logo - "2009" by the battery hole)
Auto Black Regular 4/26 (single logo / Vapor-King / Vapor4Life)
