Hi All,

I love my grand, but I have shorted it out about 3-4 times in the last few months since I started using cartos (never happened with atties). I use smoktechs single coil 4.5 ohms, or smoktechs dual coil 3.0 ohms on a 6.0 or 7.4 V setup. Not sure what the deal is, but after putting on a new one, they dont hit. I push a few times, thinking the connection is off, and then realize its shorted. Ive tried those very same cartos on my roughstack...and it does not blow the hot spring. Every time I then have to replace the hot spring on th grand, and sometimes the firing button (as it melts a bit). Any suggestions? Can the hot spring be changed for a less sensitive one? Its a drag when it happens...like today...and I didn't have anymore replacement springs.

If it is only happening with the cartos, chances are they have the center post a little long. If you look at the bottom of the carto does the center post line up even on the bottom or is it extended out?

Looks like a normal end to me?! Why don't these same cartos short out my other mods? That's why I though perhaps the hot spring is very sensitive.

I've heard of this happening with hybrid atomizers but, never cartos. You also might not want to screw it on as tight. You can also recces the center pin of the carto a bit as well. If you look on the bottom of it. There is a perfect place for a flat head screwdriver. Just screw it counter clockwise a few notches and you should be fine.

Just look at it from the side. If the pin is sticking out from the connection then that's the problem. It's making to much of a connection with the 510 on the REO. Which is why it's shorting out. I'm surprised you didn't move on and use different cartos when it happened the first time.

DDD....you should contact Rob. Your mod may also have a break in the gasket material that surrounds the center pin in the atty connector...or the center could have been pushed down too far.
Send him a PM or call him. Tell him when you bought your mod and have your email address you used to place your order handy.

Hello DDD I believe I just sent you a email .Sounds to me like there could be a small crack in your center pin gasket Send it in I will replace the gasket .As long as you haven't used adapters on the mod there will be no charge for the repair

Thanks for everybodys help here, and for your response redeye. I did get your email, and I will send it in-although I'll hate to be without it. No adapter use here, but happy to pay for repair, as well as the other supplies I listed. Ciao.
