I bought the Vamo and it did come with the ICR gray 18350 batteries flat top, and they work great! you just have to make sure you keep them at the same usage level. I'm not too into stacking anyway...the 18650 ICR battery button top worked all day, and half the night, no problems...but if you want to stack ANY battery, whether it's IMR, or ICR just make sure they are of the same age, usage...you don't want one dead and one fully charged. At first, i was worried about the ICR's, everybody was saying you shouldn't use them becasue they didn't have the correct protection, but in fact, they do! They work with the safety precautions the Vamo already has, so i'm pleased to finally see folks are beginning to accept the ICR's as an appropriate and safe battery for the Vamo! But, if you like that extra kick, im sure some IMR's would do the extra kick, but for me, i don't need all that voltage/wattage...i got the heavy, thick juice!!!

The problem seems to be with some of the caps on the Stainless Steel models. I was at local shop tonight and they checked all of theirs after a customer got one that cap wouldn't go on short mode. They found about 20% of them wouldn't do short mode. We messed with them a bit trying to figure out what the problem is. Tried my cap from Chrome version and it worked on all of them. The bad cap from SS models wouldn't go on my chrome one in short mode either. You can order from VaporBank and know you'll get a good one because they've pulled all the bad ones from stock. Looks like its just going to take a new batch of caps to fix the problem. I'd say the carbide got dull or chipped when they were turning the threads. The threads on the extension looked deeper and and crisper like the tool was sharp. The threads on the body looked in between. Loose tolerances stacking up seem to be the main culprit.

He's going to get them from his supplier, said 3-4 days with DHL. Hopefully he gets extras. If you could get some valve compound and put it on the threads of the cap and female end of the extension. If you screw them on and off for a while I bet you could get them to work with each other. You can find it at an auto parts store. It's like a rubbing compound but a bit grittier.

good info unloaded. i'll have to see what HC says whenever they are back open. in the mean time, i will be looking for some one who sells and has another battery cap then. it probably wouldn't be a bad idea for a vendor to sell extra parts like the caps, springs, and extension tubes....i'm sure these things will get misplaced by some people. so far i haven't found any one that sells these parts individually.

How does that link to the middle body section help if we need a new cap? I got a response today from SmokTek about mine and they said they do not have extra caps to send and that I'd have to send the whole thing back. And that they haven't heard about this issue at all before me. AWESOME.

I really don't want to send mine back- if anyone can find where to get extra stainless caps, please let me know or get me one - I would pay!

SmokTek wrote me back saying that they found a few extra SS caps that do fit on the shorty Vamo SS bodies fine, and they will send me one! So kudos to them, hopefully it fits mine ok :)

I wouldn't go asking them for one if you didn't buy from them, I think they only had a few. Hopefully you guys who ordered from the other sites get helped as well.

FINALLY got my replacement VAMO 25 days later...and it was sent out right before HC issued the warning about the springs so it has the silver big spring still :/

BUT the problem is the threads on the old VAMO head itself...NOT the cap. Just reporting back for the people who are ordering just a replacement cap and expecting it to work.
