Should I give it to him?

OK - let's settle the question. :) Robert did reply to the thread - actually posted a visual of what the top of a Nemesis looks like for which I thank him. He may have not read the thread from the start and may not have been aware that the incident had happened a couple of hours before .... probably just thought it was one of those have-you-heard-of-the-mod-that-exploded kind of threads. :)

You could buy him a provari and a kayfun.....until he wants to quit, none of it will work.
But the I stick 20 and naut mini is safe enough....no?

I can't afford an authentic Provari and Kayfun, especially since he might not want to stick to vaping in the first place. And from now on I shall be very wary of clones. And yes, though the stuff was ordered well before yesterday I did think the iStick 20 and the Nautilus mini were pretty safe and a good starter combo.

It's an EXCELLENT starter kit, wish I had started there.

I want to point out the one thing I think is missed. I believe you feel unsafe because of the pin on the nautilus being flushed, like how it caused the issue on the SMPL right? If so, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. That is only an issue when someone is using a mechanical mod that has a direct to battery connection, or a hybrid connection. Basically these mech mods just have a hole on the top where you screw the atomizer in, and the pin on the atomizer will make direct contact with the battery when you push the button on the bottom. An RDA has to have a protruding pin to be safe, while most tanks/RTAs have a flush one.

When you're using a regulated mod this will never be an issue. All atomizers will work fine because the regulated mod has it's own built in connection, rather than giving you direct to battery connection. This connection will have it's own pin that will connect with the atomizer. I also have not read of the 20 having the issues the 50 has, but I have no experience with any of those. I do have a SMPL and a Sigelei 150 (regulated), though so I can see these differences clearly.

The best thing to do is to provide information. How it works, what can happen, how to diagnose problems are all questions that need to be answered first. I remember getting into vaping off smoking and not knowing anything really made it a hard time.

Let him know about the important forum threads.

My then 20 year old son was a 1 ppd smoker, and I tried talking him into vaping instead. He tried a couple of my setups. He resisted, saying he didn't like vaping compared to smoking.

Then some time later my daughter began vaping, and got her boyfriend and some of her friends to convert, too. NOW my son was willing to try vaping again.

I gave him my Silver Bullet mod with a rebuildable drip atomizer, as he wanted the quantity of vapor I was getting from mine. I made sure that he understood battery safety. Although he wasn't interested in making his own coils, he was willing to re-wick the coils. I said he could have his RBA re-coiled at any vape shop (I now live almost 3 hours away), just make sure that the ohm of the coils were within a certain range and that they measured them for him at the shop. He's been using his setup for over a year now. Still smokes occasionally, but mostly vaping. I'll take that.

Yes - there must be some will involved - I mean he really needs to want to make the switch for it to happen. But seeing as what he has tried so far was not really up to scratch I thought it would be good to give him a better taste and let him decide for himself. I will make sure to point him to your blogs and posts @Baditude, even if what I am giving him is relatively safe.
