This is a news article that featured on 27 July 2013 in one of the prominent newspapers here in India. I am a little disturbed and worried about this. As it is, it is very difficult to get any stuff here and if a law banning e-cigarettes comes into play then it might become impossible to get stuff from outside as well. I just received a shipment from HealthCabin (my very first from anywhere and excited about it) for some liquids and hardware and was wondering if I should go all out and get stuff for the next few years. You know, a few batteries, coils, tanks et al. Also thinking maybe its time to get into DIY juices just in case this ban does come into effect then I could probably try getting the ingredients separately without any issues (guessing it should not be an issue).

What would you suggest? I just hope it takes the government at least a few years, if they are thinking of it, to implement it. Will get some time to stock up.

What I do not understand is that the reason given for the ban on e-cigarettes, most of the time, is because they think it will lead the young to smoke real cigarettes. If that is the worry then why not ban analogs completely. Ya I know the answer to it but just wanted to vent it out here.

Well lets see what happens. Will be following this and hoping it does not work out for them.

Heck. The rumor is that the FDA in the USA is considering banning internet sales.

I stocked up on e-juice base. Everything else I can build.

Have mods.
Have coil wire
Have wick materials
Have RBA

Stocked up on e-juice.
If I were in your country, I'd do the same. Store juice refrigerated/frozen if possible.

See the DIY section for info on mixing.

@EmeraldLeo1982: That is exactly what I am thinking. Once I get used to 0mg I think it should not be an issue making liquids.

@AttyPops: Thanks for the suggesting. Will definitely be looking at the DIY section

@JulesXsmokr: Yup agreed. Definitely not a conspiracy theory. I just hope they are able to see the light of day....someday....

With the rumored FDA regulations coming up for proposal/voting in the next few months, I'm also stocking up, to a point. Grabbed a half liter of high-strength base, and I'd suggest doing the same if you're somewhere facing a more serious ban. As it is I'm three months in and getting closer and closer to zero-nic, down to 6mg now, so I'm thinking I'll be fine on that 500ml bottle I've got coming for quite some time. Once you're off the nicotine, you're pretty much home-free, mods can be built, atomizers can be coiled from readily available materials, the ingredients in juice can be gotten over the counter at pharmacies and food stores..

Been a lurker here for a long time...just registered...
I am also from India...and I cant understand why tobacco companies would want to ban e cigs here in India??
I mean its already so difficult for ppl to make the switch and convincing others to do so...due to difficulties of getting good gear and eliquids and also due to very cheap cost of analogs here....A pack of analog cigs(20 cigs) cost like 2-3 dollars in India(way lower price compared to UK or US)...which is way cheaper than vaping...so I think tobacco companies are safe...

hahaha ... a packet of 20 cigarettes costs about AU $14. As soon as the either big tobacco or big pharmacy gains a monopoly on e-cigs, they will make a 'donation' to the government and then all these rumors of bans will magically disappear. Of course the majority of their equipment will be a non compatible propriety type and expensive as well. Have at least 6 months nic supply and i am sure there are alternatives if there is a complete ban ... a road of silk ?

Sorry you're having to worry about bans :( I think most governments have a negative view of smokers, and would rather see them drop dead.
It would probably be a good idea to have some things stocked up. AttyPops made some good suggestions. I also like the idea of going 0 nicotine. DIY isn't hard at all. I was able to get started on DIY for cheap. It was less money than a month supply of e liquid from a vendor :)

You can pretty much bet that the main lobbyist behind the push for banning E-cigss is the tobacco industry. They are experiencing something like a 10%+ loss on sales due to the E-Cig industry. They don't want to loss there cash cow. Also they are scrambling to catch up by buying or building there own E-cig companies.

Attypops addressed some of this but here's my take.

Need good quality mech mods.
Need good quality rebuildables.
Wick and wire have other industrial purposes and aren't going anywhere.
Batteries and chargers won't be regulated.
Nicotine? Don't know yet. It's a pharmaceutical product. It will still be produced but might not be available.
PG/VG isn't going anywhere. It has many other uses.
Flavoring isn't going anywhere. Tobacco flavoring might be an issue but I doubt it.

I think that covers it all.

IMO..... Mech mods, rba, and maybe nic are all we really have to stock up on.

I diy 30ml for about 1.50 each....

Thats a good price..i dont think i can get plain nicotine liquid anywhere in my country..or flavourings, usp grade pg/vg,etc..
i ll hv to import all these things..so making my own liquid wudnt be cheaper for me..Dekang is really cheap(14$/100ml on fasttech) but their juices r horrible imo..

My take is if a government can raise taxes on a 3 billion dollar a year business I think you will see much of the heat start to go away. The fact that it is now a 3 billion dollar/year business is what the real problem most likely is. It's on the radar and getting bigger every day.

I think this is spot on. The big hang up right now is they're figuring out a way they can tax it. Once that happens, the greedy fat monster will be satisfied.
