should I try Ahlusion again?

I tried Ahlusion about a year ago. I saw all the rave about them on the forums, and naturally, placed an order to try them out for myself. I've been 'flavor chasing' for a long time, so I usually try out any popular vendor if they have good reviews and interesting flavors that appeal to me and a decent price. My first order consisted of 4 bottles: Sweet Surrender, Pink Label, Strawberry Vanilla Cake, and Honeydew Boba Tea. I tried them all out unsteeped as well as 1 month+ steep. And this is not to sham the vendor, but I just wasn't that impressed by the juices. I didn't dislike them, but I was a bit disappointed, perhaps because my expectations were really high? On top of that, I got a perfumey taste (the honeydew boba tea still tastes a little perfumey.. this is after 1+ year of me having it) and I found the TH to be rather harsh for my tastes. I usually get 50/50 ratio with 12mg, but these days I am now usually opting for higher VG. I see that a lot of people love them and I wish I did too and maybe I just got a weird batch or something, but I was thinking of trying them again. I already have a lot of juice so I don't really need more and I have been spending too much money on juice, but I'm worried I would just have the same reaction again. Their juice isn't exactly cheap, even though these days I care less about price and would rather have quality and something I actually like, but if I don't like it, then its a complete waste of money. Maybe it's their nicotine base that doesn't agree with me? Does anyone else feel this way about Ahlusion?

*waves to fellow ATL area vaper*

I've only tried one juice from Ahlusion, so I can't speak to them specifically, but I've found a handful of vendors that use a base that just doesn't agree with me - as you describe, the throat hit is *really* harsh even at 50/50, and the taste is slightly perfumey. It makes me sad, because in all cases, I really like the *flavors*.. but the juice itself is nigh unvapeable. It's not to do with PG/VG ratio, cause the first time I experienced this, I tried reordering from the same vendor and adjusting the ratio in both directions - didn't help. Two months of steeping also didn't help. It's something in the base itself.

I didn't experience that in the one Ahlusion juice I have (Rune), so it's possible they got rid of whatever was bothering you... but it's equally possible that you and I are sensitive to different things.

I mostly just wanted to let you know you're not crazy, cause I thought I must be crazy the first time I experienced it (the juice in question wasn't cheap stuff!).... until I persisted in vaping it and broke out in a slight rash.

The only person who can answer whether it's worth it is you - it's your money - but if I were you and wanted to double check, I'd stick with small bottles and just one or two flavors... if it turns out you've still got a sensitivity issue, there's not much use in sampling lots of flavors, and if not, you can always order more later. If it's still unvapeable, you can always PIF it for something you like.

I've found that the best course of action for me, as someone who has limited income and goes through a good 5 ml a day, is to stick with vendors that use bases I know I can tolerate for my main juice stash, and branch out to other vendors with caution.

Everyone's taste is subjective. I'm one of the people that hangs out in the Ahlusion thread quite a bit and while I've found more hits than misses (for me) with their juice there continues to be flavors that I just don't like from them.

As you order from them, a couple weeks after you receive your order you will receive a limited time 15% off coupon and an offer to provide feedback regarding your juice order. The feedback request is not a request to review what you ordered but what YOU thought about the juice(s) which Ahlusion will then use to modify your subsequent orders. It's your own personal juice profile. Say you think the Raspberry Mint juice needs more raspberry and less mint so you say that in your feedback and the next time you order it the juice will be tailor made to your feedback. Some Ahlusion regulars will request that their juices not be profiled and only give feedback about the equipment they use whereas others find that their profiled juice is not to their liking so provide further feedback. It's sort of like DIY or customized juice from a big name vendor.

I'm not a big tobacco lover but Ahlusion does do tobacco flavors quite well. Their aromatic tobaccos (strong tobacco flavor with a lighter secondary flavor) don't require any steeping. Their other tobaccos however do benefit from steeps of anywhere from 2 weeks to several months (I've seen many posters say that Smooth Criminal continually changes in flavor for up to 4 months, some prefer it fresh others well aged).

Another benefit of Ahlusion juices is that the fruits tend to taste like the actual fruit and not a candy imitation.

As far as what the original poster first ordered... I've not tried the Sweet Surrender or Rune yet but I have had the plain Boba Tea which I found ok but I'm still trying to get a taste for it. I personally find Strawberry Vanilla Cake to be nice, not something to vape all the time but good for a change. Then there are those I've found to be quite good like Mango Lassi, Papaya Lassi, Cherry Cola (a tank cracker), Lemon Berry Kiss and Shipwreck (a tobacco vape and I don't normally do them).

When we used to smoke the only options that were available were regular and menthol, strong or weak tobacco. Now as vapers we are presented with myriad choices and find that what one person likes others may not. Some days I just want a quick and cheap McDonald's burger and others I want a ribeye with all the trimmings, it's the same way with vaping. I personally find that Ahlusion makes a quality product but that I won't always agree with others opinions of flavors. Give them another try and I hope you find a flavor you like.

I have tried a few of Ahlusions flavors, Peachy Criminal, Smooth Criminal and Apple House Blend. I like Peachy Criminal quite a bit. Smooth Criminal is just to bland and Apple House Blend doesn't do it for me last i tried.

I would really like to try some of their other stuff but there is just so many juices to choose from that I don't know where to start. I'm a tobacco flavor guy. I like variations of tobacco for ADV. The only ADV I have at the moment after trying dozens of e-juices from various vapors are Halo Tribeca, HHV Legend, Ahlusions Peachy Criminal, and AiV April Moon. Anyone have suggestions?

Give Indigo Vapor a shot. High quality juice, really complex tobaccos.

Ahlusion and HHV are the only two places i buy tobacco flavors from. You can't go wrong with the Sahara and Smooth Criminal from Ahlusion, and Heather's Heavenly Army and Heavenly Tobacco from HHV. Trust me..

Dragon's Fire, Huntsman, and Legend also. HHV has some terrific tobacco vapes, best out there that I've tried.

I like Smooth Criminal a lot from Ahlusion, need to try their Peachy Criminal and some of their others. Orange Creamsicle is a top five fruit vape, that stuff is just amazing.

How long ago did you try Smooth Criminal and do you still have it? Not sure how long you let it steep, but if you still have it, re-visit it, at about 2 months. You might be pleasantly surprised!

I like the Mango Lassi - it's a similar profile to AiV's April Moon to me.

I've been 'flavor chasing' for a long time

I think the base is important. If you do not like a vendor's juices "across the board", even if so many others do, then I say stay away. This happened to me with HHV.......I just can't vape anything from there. I have a friend who had a similar experience. Sometimes it's just not gonna work out.

My brother hates all coffee from Starbucks. He says it tastes bitter. Doesn't matter what blend or brew he gets. Whatever they do in their bean roasting operation is just not gonna work for my brother.

Understand, there are only a limited amount of food flavorings in existence, right?

but there are a gazillion ways to combine them into ejuice.

The problem is that there are only *so many* strawberry food flavorings. So any ejuice that is "strawberry-something" is going to be using one of those. Unless the vendor is also manufacturing their own flavorings. (Ahlusion does make some of their own for instance, but most do not).

See where I'm going with this?

I meet people often who have tried over 500 juices. They are thinking #501 is going to *change everything*. I guess that is possible. Not probable though. ;) For them, I suggest purchasing a small lot of DIY flavorings, and spiking their vendor juice until they find something they love. Tweak it til its right.

However, it sounds like you ENJOY the chase, so you should continue.

Order 2 small bottles from ahlusion in a flavor that you seem to love with every other vendor. If it is not good to you, then it is the base, and you need to scratch them off the list. :)

This can happen with the best vendors for each of us, it is not a reflection on the vendor at all. More about our brains/taste buds.
