Hey everyone. So I'm gonna try to make this as short as possible.
Earlier at work (work doing roofing/siding/remodels) etc. Was roofing today, was on the ground and a shingle got pushed off the roof wrote hard. Needless to say wrong place wrong time and a shingle took me in the mouth. Cut my lip wide open, and went and had 3 stitches about 7 hours ago.. Have not vaped since cause I went back to work. But home now and rally craving. Was wondering if it would be safe. It is def still "open" as in had not healed over at all. Just afraid if anything that I'd be getting more nicotine dinner his directly into blood stream since the cut is a little on the inside of my lip.

Thank you for any info in advance

Stick the drip tip in your nose, plug the other nostrel, ... nose exhale.

Maurice

My dumbass just tried this... it works! Though I'm not sure what the absorption is, and it looks really weird.
I also coughed because I'm still not used to exhaling through my nose haha. (I never do with my lung hits.... XD)

(I'm home alone so there's no one to judge me)

I hope you feel better soon!

I don't think you need to worry about the exhale, they've already tested and shown that there is very little *if any* nicotine in the exhalation.

The main thing of course is the pain; since you have stitches, there's not too much concern about bleeding, but, just so you know, I have *smoked* before, after having several teeth removed, and all I really needed to do was cut my filter-tips in half so I didn't have to pull so hard to get smoke. I think the same would apply here, just not pulling so hard that you strain the stitches/cut any further. So I think using whatever device you have that provides the easiest, airiest draw would be the best thing, on the opposite side of your mouth of course. That has got to hurt like a bad mutha, but going into involuntary nic withdrawal will NOT help you feel better, that's for sure.

Since you need to draw so softly to prevent further strain/pain, and you may not want to vape as often, because of the pain, it might not be a bad idea to slightly increase the nic level, so that each hit provides slightly more than usual nicotine, to stave off withdrawal.

But I wouldn't worry about nicotine in the cut; I quite often spill e-juice on my fingers, where I often have a variety of cuts and abrasions, and though it does sting, I can't see any real harm from it, and the nicotine in the vapor itself would be so low-level, I doubt there would be much even in the inhale to cause you any further pain.

Hope you feel better soon...
Andria

Thanks for all the info everyone. Think I'm gonna give it a try in a little bit. Lucky a week or so ago I picked up a aerotank, so I'll just open it up just about all the way and just draw really easy and just hope it doesn't sting. Nobody thinks the potential exposure to nicotine in the raw cut would be more intense going straight to to blood stream opposed to normal absorption? Nor do you think it could cause any type of infection?

Don't you think this is something you should have asked your ER nurse, instead of us?

Getting something on an open wound does not necessarily equate to it going straight into your bloodstream. When you inhale chemicals, however, they generally do go right into your bloodstream, as do things that pass through mucous membranes, such as nicotine.

Whether it would sting a bit, or not, I don't know. ;)

PG and VG are both double alcohols, and are both somewhat antibiotic, plus they've been vaporized at a very high temperature before getting to your mouth. The vapor would be free of microbes, or any matter that your body would attack, and does not 'feed' bacteria unless you somehow have sugars in the liquid which somehow get carried by the vapor.

Might want to keep the drip tip clean, though.

Short term I wouldn't do it for two reasons:

Nicotine screws with the healing process. And that looks a bit too open raw and sore to be screwing with it.

Be as careful as you want, but pulling on an e-cig risks messing with how that wound heals, possibly pulling the healing out of place, and possibly pulling out sutures. It's your face - how do you want this to look when it's over?

I agree with supermarket - did you ask about any of this at the ER? They must have given you some do's and don'ts about eating and smoking over the next few days.

The doctor left right after stitching me up, and the nurse seemed like he barely n knew his in name. Didn't feel like trying to explain something most likely new to him (ecigs are not very wide spread where i live to the point if someone know what one is, it's a blu they have seen on a commercial on TT v) so he could just say not to do it.
