The O.C.
this is where a long, slender tip comes in handy (far right).. the angled version would be even better. not much mouth movement and you can push it toward the back for your mouth.

FWIW, i'm another one who also smoked after every tooth extraction and all the dental work i ever had ... even multiple wisdom tooth extractions, and never had any problems or complications, and never had an issue with slow healing.

what i did was took a small piece of gauze, wet it with sterile-right-from-the-bottle-distilled water, and covered the affected tooth area with it - and thus successfully avoided the dreaded 'dry socket', and infection, EVERY TIME. Since the wound area was covered, no smoke ever got into the wound or open socket. You could do something similar by draping the stitched part of your bottom lip with some wet gauze, then gently using the opposite corner of the mouth for the tip of your PV.

another thing you could try (which i JUST tried to see if it would work, and it did!), is: after inserting the vape tip into the opposite corner, use the fingers of your free hand to hold your lips closed around it, so it makes a seal - then just inhale without moving your lips, nor pursing them. i just tried this and yes! it worked fine - no need to even move the lips at all. By using this method you can gently inhale without using your lips at all, nor pulling on the wound.

What I would do, when I was having a tooth or teeth pulled, was leave a cup of tea steeping on the counter; when I got home, I'd **gently** swish the tepid tea to a) get rid of the blood taste, and b) start the wound closing -- tannic acid is very astringent, and is good for stopping bleeding. For the same reason, I would do what you did, but with that wet teabag instead of wet gauze.

I think I've also done that "holding lips closed" maneuver, when my lips would be so numb I couldn't really "purse" them to draw on a cigarette. For a smoker, "where there's a will, there's a way" is not a cliche; it's a fact of life. :D Really I applied the same philosophy when I started vaping and realized how easy it would be to finally ditch the smokes for good; I had the will, so I found a way! :D

Hey everyone. So I'm gonna try to make this as short as possible.
Earlier at work (work doing roofing/siding/remodels) etc. Was roofing today, was on the ground and a shingle got pushed off the roof wrote hard. Needless to say wrong place wrong time and a shingle took me in the mouth. Cut my lip wide open, and went and had 3 stitches about 7 hours ago.. Have not vaped since cause I went back to work. But home now and rally craving. Was wondering if it would be safe. It is def still "open" as in had not healed over at all. Just afraid if anything that I'd be getting more nicotine dinner his directly into blood stream since the cut is a little on the inside of my lip.

Thank you for any info in advance

You can vape, try to vape on the other side. Just be careful. Tomorrow you will be more or less clotted over. try not to let the e-juice get in the wound it can cause and infection and potentially make you lip swell more. If you get e-juice in it flush it with water. that blood that is exposed is not re-entering your body it is exiting so it can clot and cells can rebuild themselves.

Thanks everyone, last night I took a couple puffs to take the edge off, and a couple this morning before work. Just got home ads it doesn't seem to be bothering. Using the opposite side of mouth and exhaling through my nose. And yes after I got stitched up went back to work and strapped a roof for a metal roof, as well as this morning. And it does feel a little better today. Still very tender and a little raw looking but better then yesterday. And with all the blood fine I can see all the bruising.. Good God Haha. Abs was not given any type of mouthwash.. I wish cause I felt disgusting last night but brushing.. Was just way to sore and not sealed up completely. And I have no worries about getting fired. It's a business passed down from my grandfather to my older cousin. So no worries. Lol it happened and he gets down off the roof and is like hold presure on it then bandage it up it should heal pretty good being on your lip thinking I wouldn't need stitches. He's a dub.. And after it bleeding for 20 min and gong to see a pharmacist he strongly recommend sstitches

i'd be worried about the suction pulling the stitches open and holding back the healing process. you're probably all better now, but if this happens again to anyone (or someone any open wound in their mouth), you could do what i've done when i absolutely couldn't vape and just put a few drops of juice on your arm now and then. wow that sounds desperate haha

Thanks Shaun and everybody else hoping for it to get better. Its a little better today, still sore, but getting better atleast

Hey Jordan, glad it's getting better. If you have a little scar left from this, it will just make you more appealing and mysterious to the gals. You can make up all kinds of interesting stories about how you got it.:D
