The e-cig (ego) works for me in the day. Satisfies both the craving for nicotine rush and the actions of smoking. Plus I like the energised head and body rush I get from it (like a caffeine pick me up) , as during the day I want to feel energetic, not tight chested, lethargic and stinky, which is how cigarettes make me feel.

It does not work at all when drunk or just before bed time if I feel the craving for a cig.

Before bed vaping just gives me insomnia whereas a cigarette actually relaxes me.

Same when drunk, the e-cig does nada but a cig realxes me and gives me that dry hit I need.

I am pretty sure this is due to the carbon monoxide effect. Lower blood oxygen will of course make you feel sleepy. Nicotine itself does not relax anyone as it is a stimulant.

So there is more to vaping and smoking than mere nicotine addiction.

I'm still happy with vaping even though I have not entitely quit smoking (am puffing a Dunhill Orient right now with a beer before bed.)

Smoked for 21 years but for the last 5 years only smoked 3 -4 in the evenings at home and maybe a pack over a weekend if out with the lads or the same 3 -4 a day if not.

I am now down to 1 -2 per evening, usually only 1 (I start my evening with vaping then have 1 or 2 cigs before bed.) And have cut my weekend intake by about half when out on the town as the e-cig satisfies right up until and actual alcohol buzz kicks in. Once that buzz kicks in - e-cig goes out of mind.

Have been reccomended to get a high mg nic juice for drinking and add pga for good th. Will try it but will be surprised if it works as well as a Dunhill or a Camel Blue.

My point is - nicotine is not the only thing that addicted us to smoking at all. I'm hoping to blend some of my own juices that give me the th I need down to a t; complex and strong flavors (want to mix RY4 with a strong tobacco juice and a strong espresso juice) to realy combine, th, nicotine and complex, strong flavors to add up to a satisfying vape.

But vaping will never make you feel like smoking did and that is why the gum and patch did absolutely nothing for me even though they did give me a massive nicotine buzz.

Tobacco and it's alkaloids are very complex and nicotine makes up only a small part of the patchwork imho. Which makes me wonder if e-juice makers should experiment with adding other tobacco alkoloids to their juices to make them more effective.

pvs give the nic, flavor, th and the hand to mouth behaviour as well as inhaling and exhaling a cloud.

I think it is an awesome invention and will keep mine forever as like I said it has probably halfed my cigarette intake and I am a lot less lethargic (I also find a good morning blast on the pv, especially with menthol, clears up my lungs if I smoked a few cigs the previous evening.)

Doubt I'll ever quit that before bed cig and the drunk cigs though.

There are lot's of things in cigs that you don't get from a PV. Maoi inhibitors being a big one. A lot of people use snuss or snuff as a replacement. Personally I think that if you are using that few cigarettes that I wouldn't worry about it. Just consider every time you pass up a cig for your PV as a victory for your health.

I don't really want them putting anythng extra in the liquids but then again they could make it an option and some people might benifit from it.

I'd rather not. Sure, carbon monoxide gives you a buzz and relaxes you... it is also very bad for you.

For many (most?) of us, the point was to get AWAY from additives.

I admit, it took me awhile to ween myself off the ciggies, especially when drinking, but over a year later, I finally put down the last cig, and I've been vaping only for 6 months. Give it time. Or try Snus.

But please don't put additives in my e-cigs.

The drinking aspect was one thing that worried me the most. I'm now on day 9 with vaping and have been 100% successful at quitting the tobacco. I even drank the spirits all evening yesterday watching the playoffs and was perfectly fine with the vape. Was even at my neighbors who do not smoke and said I was welcome to vape inside. By the time I walked home, I was a bit of a stumbly bumbly fool but was vaping like a mad man. The only cravings I was having were mental but pulling down my Tiramisu mixed with espresso fixed me right up!

The point is we are vaping not combusting, so any additives MAY have the benefit of satisfying cravings better without being carcinogenic or any more harmful to health than current e-juice ingredients.

I've been vaping for about 4 months, and have been smoke-free for about 3. It took a little time to get over the morning and evening cigarettes, then it took about a month after stopping smoking to get past the occasional, minor withdrawal symptoms. While I understand that there are other alkaloids in cigarettes that are harmless, I believe that leaving just nicotine in e-juice is the best method.

Swedish snus has fewer health hazards than smoking, and I believe it can play an important role if absolutely necessary. I have not used snus, but I have acquired some for "just in case". I would stay away from as many chemicals as possible, and that is why I mention actual Swedish snus. It is hard to come by, so I have been calling tobacco shops around me and have been asking friends to call and ask for it too. If I can get them to see that there is a genuine interest, maybe they will start ordering it.

I'd personally rather a little extra of someting was put in my juice (providing it was not as harmful as smoke) than have to buy a further product and add an extra consumable to satisfying my habbit.

I really don;t think what I'm proposing is as scary as some ppl are imagining and certainly if BT ever get their paws on this tech that's what they'd be looking into - ie - how can we make juice as satisfying as possible without added harmful effects?
