Since moving to Reoville, I've wanted a Hornet atomizer - I just like the funky look of them. The other day, I saw that [reputable vendor] had some, and I went for it. I just got it tonight, and wouldn't ya know, it wont screw down all the way into the 510 connector on my Grand :(. It works on a couple of tube mods, but I had to sort of work it onto the first one, turning it back and forth until it would screw all the way down. But the Grand is just a no-go. Anybody have one of these or have any suggestions? *Sigh* For roughly the same price, I could have bought an RM2 and an RM3 and been vaping happy right now. Today's lesson: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Have you taken a hard look at the threads on that thing under magnification? It sounds like a candidate for a return for manufacturing defect.

I'll contact the vendor in the morning and see what they say about a return or exchange. I think it's the threads, too, but since these are no longer in production, I may be stuck with it. Hopefully, we can work something out.

It sounds like your center post on the hornet is in too far. If I remember right it will screw out a bit. Later I can see if I still have a ERA to look at. Same just different size atty.

I tried turning the post a little, and it does turn. I just didn't want to risk damaging anything. My first choice is a return - if that turns out not to be an option, I can be more aggressive in my investigation :)

I have had a Hornet on my Mini for over a year now with no issues. I do really love the little guy. I would try turning the bottom screw as mentioned little by little. Should be just slightly above topline until you make contact.

It's not that it won't fire - well, I mean it won't, but it's because the atty won't screw far enough down into the 510 connector on the Grand - there's still about a 3mm gap between the base of the atty and the top of the drip well where it hangs up. I think the threads must be bad. So disappointing, but hoping I can work something out with the vendor.

I had the same problem with an rsst well over a year ago. Best option, you can get a 7mm x .5 round thread die and screw it onto the atty a couple times with your fingers and it'll smooth out the threads. They actually make a holder for those 1" diameter round dies but on a 510 youcan probaby hand turn the die.

Probably run you 7 to 10 bucks on amazon or ebay. Bad news.. you'll be in for a slight wait since they usually ship from China. However, it's a tool that comes in handy for a vaper eventually.

Edit: IF bad threads on the rda are the problem.

Houston, we have contact...

After cleaning all of the grit out of the threads with a stiff bristle brush and a lot of turning back and forth, I finally got it screwed down tight enough to make contact, so I guess all is well. Even so, the atty doesn't turn evenly when I'm screwing it into the connector, so I still think the threads are crooked or uneven or something. I dunno. Not what I was expecting at that price point, but at least it's usable. Thanks for all the tips.
