I think that when Jesus was changed into spirit form, the incredible light, the Glory of God, "burned" His image in the cloth.

All attempts to duplicate the shroud have failed. I believe it is the burial cloth of Jesus with His negative image forever imprinted upon it through the Holy Spirit.

"The Shroud of Turin is one of the most scientifically scrutinized artifacts in recorded history. Through a rigid process of elimination, through all materialistic possibilities, it becomes crystal clear; the way in which the photographic negative, and uniquely three dimensional, image of the man on the Shroud of Turin had to be imprinted was 'supernatural' in its process."

I agree 100 percent Lisa... The Shroud of Turn is the actual burial cloth of the now living Christ. God is using it in these last days to convince those who 'require signs'. Here's another Video that I found of great interest that may interest you (and perhaps others also) Sister.

I love how some people take an "opinion" and call it a fact. Nobody can positively determine that it's not the burial cloth of Jesus. I believe that it's genuine. You are free to believe that it's not if you want, but nobody can prove that it's not.

I agree... Here's the information that dispels the previous 'flawed' assumptions that the shroud was not authentic.

Now that the flawed carbon dating is finally brought into line, all major lines of evidence now converge and establish the Shroud as authentic. This rigidly tested, and scrutinized, artifact establishes the uniqueness of the Shroud among all ancient artifacts of man found on earth. I know of no other ancient artifact, from any other culture, which has withstood such intense scrutiny and still remained standing in its claim of divine origin. It is apparent God thought this event so important for us to remember that He took a “photograph” of the resurrection of Jesus Christ using the Shroud itself as a medium. After years of painstaking research, searching through every materialistic possibility, scientists still cannot tell us exactly how the image of the man on the Shroud was imprinted.

I can tell you what the Scientists can not... by the POWER of the Almighty & living God... that's how ;)

I guess the reality is, there is no 100% proof positive that either assertion is definitely correct. I do think it is interesting that the bible itself, being a historical recanting of the death, burial, and resurection of Jesus, does not state that he was wrapped in one large "sheet" of cloth. There is no mention in the bible of a miraculous "burned" image Jesus left behind on the material. As stated in the 2nd item in the first link I posted, "2.In John 20:5-7 we find there was a separate piece wrapped around Christ's head. Yet the Shroud of Turin depicts a face on the sheet." And, statement #5 in the same link, "5.The Bible is the authoritative record of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, and the Bible mentions nothing of a shroud."

It is entirely possible that the shroud is real, but, it's also possible that it is not the actual cloth that was wrapped around Jesus' body. I'm no scientist - not anymore than you are, Lisa. The bible does not reference this specific cloth, nor does it say, in a sense, "Here is the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in. Please take good care of it so that all people will know it exists."

For that reason, anyone can attempt to prove or disprove its validity as the actual shroud. It would be awesome if it was, but it is not 100%, undeniably the piece (or part of a piece) of cloth Jesus was buried in.

I'm undecided about it. I was once convinced it was the burial cloth, but someone asked me about the beard. Scripturally, Jesus' beard was plucked out by the Romans. The burial cloth shows a male with a full beard. So, I'm undecided. I'll have to pray about it.

It's true that an image like the shroud cannot be duplicated. It's almost like an x-ray. It is an enigma.

Whoever it was, it looks like they are considering cloning DNA from the shroud.

I recall seeing a very bad Dan Brown-esque kind of movie along those lines. There was this box held together with the nails from the crucifixion, and they used the blood from the nails to clone Him. The result was the anti-christ. This movie was so bad, I doubt they'd even show it on SciFi channel.

Oh no, I hope that's not true! I've never heard that before. Could they have been anymore cruel then they were to Him? Makes me ill to think about what He went though. I've always had a really hard time with that.

This would be the Sudarium cloth and it aligns beautifully with the Shroud of Turin indicating both were wrapped around the body of Christ at the time of his burial and both were present after His ascension. The 'energy' or 'light' of Christ's resurrection is what left the image.

Oh. But then there wouldn't have been any blood on the shroud if that were true????????? Didn't I read that the the person the shroud was on had been tortured? It can't be both. I'm confruzed.

I've always believed it is until that question. I was just hoping that one of you Bible scholars could answer that for me in case I'm ever asked again. Sometimes my fingers can't read my mind and they just start typing hoping to find my mind and then finds it hiding in a closet. (Boy, that was a really good run on sentence!)

Are you saying that only non-believers think the Shroud may not be cloth that Jesus was wrapped in - and/or that the image is actually a burned image of Jesus? I am a believer and I have doubts about the piece of cloth that was labeled as the Shroud of Turin being the "real" thing. I don't think there is a direct connection in being a believer and believing that shroud that was found and photographed and proclaimed to be the "real" thing, actually is. I think there are too many questionable aspects to be 100% certain either way.

I don't think that that's what she meant. I'm a believer and have serious doubts as to whether or not it's the "real thing". What I THINK that she means is that it's a non-issue in the sense that my faith in Christ is not based on whether the cloth is "genuine". If it's found to be true or false, that will not change my belief in Him. It's the same way with things like Noah's ark, etc. My faith is not based on "objects". So what if it is the real thing? It won't change anything for me.

Okay, maybe - I was basing my question on the cumulative previous posts on the topic as well - not just the one post. But, that post kinda made it sound like believers "know" the Shroud is what it is touted to be. I apologize if I misunderstood.
