Okay, maybe - I was basing my question on the cumulative previous posts on the topic as well - not just the one post. But, that post kinda made it sound like believers "know" the Shroud is what it is touted to be. I apologize if I misunderstood.

That's okay. I know that there are people who think that it's important. I don't think that blonde does though...

Are you saying that only non-believers think the Shroud may not be cloth that Jesus was wrapped in - and/or that the image is actually a burned image of Jesus? I am a believer and I have doubts about the piece of cloth that was labeled as the Shroud of Turin being the "real" thing. I don't think there is a direct connection in being a believer and believing that shroud that was found and photographed and proclaimed to be the "real" thing, actually is. I think there are too many questionable aspects to be 100% certain either way.

No, no, no.....not at all. What my cousin was saying is that the shroud isn't an important issue to Christians as say accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. There is no mandate in the Christian faith that you must believe the shroud is the legitimate covering (or burial cloth) of Jesus Christ when He was laid in a borrowed tomb, after His crucifixion. Some Christians believe it is and some don't. I'm sure it could be the same for non-Christians, as it has been proven that a man named Jesus walked the earth, performed miracles, and was crucified. Plus, the body of Jesus was gone 3 days after burial. That is documented.

Now, to non-Christians, they come up with different scenarios of why Jesus' body was gone. The Sanhedrin started the rumor that the body was removed by Jesus' disciples and moved to another location so as to prove Jesus' theology incorrect. They knew who He was, and didn't want Jesus upsetting the apple cart. How many people know who Jesus is and would rather live for themselves instead of a Messiah. "And they called to the mountain to fall on them, to hide them from the Face of Him." As a believer, my heart breaks for these people as they KNOW who Jesus is and would rather be crushed by a mountain and go to hell instead of accepting Him as Savior. I don't understand this mentality. I'm sure you have some in your family like I do....and everyone else does. They just don't get it, Closet, and it just breaks your heart.:(

No, I'm sorry if you interpreted it that way. I believe the Shroud is real but tons of other believers question it... which is cool. I guess what I was trying to say (but worded it incorrectly) is believers don't require a sign. :)

I've always believed it is until that question. I was just hoping that one of you Bible scholars could answer that for me in case I'm ever asked again. Sometimes my fingers can't read my mind and they just start typing hoping to find my mind and then finds it hiding in a closet. (Boy, that was a really good run on sentence!)

... you're such a hoot L! I'm no scholar or authority on the Shroud, that's for sure... but the person of the Shroud did appear to have been tortured, lanced in the side, & crucified. There was much blood in certain key 'areas' such as about the head (Like Christ's would have been where the crown of thorns would have been placed).... around the wrists and ankles, all across the backside, laceration under the ribs. The pollen, mold & flora within the shroud matches those that are indigenous to that area of Israel... and the 'image' appears to be quite superficial (unlike ink or paint) and to have been created by some type of 'energy'... (intense light)... something to that effect. The Show that I watched was on the History Channel I believe... it was quite compelling and convincing based on their findings. I believe Christ went into the Shroud 'broken' and bleeding... but was resurrected 'whole' and perfect.. in His glorified body... hence why I believe it's possible to have the blood and gore and yet a perfect imprint at the same time. Like a caterpillar morphing into a Butterfly within the same cocoon so to speak... ;)

I don't understand that mentality either. But, you know what really gets me? Those pastors that live double lives. I mean, are they really believers? I don't' think so, they just couldn't be down deep in their hearts. If they were, they would know that He sees all.........know what I mean?

How can someone get up there on Sunday and teach the word of God, while he's cheating on his wife and taking drugs in secret? Or molesting kids? I mean, there is just no possible way that a person like that really believes in God because the 2 just aren't compatible.

I would not wish to be in a position of authority to preach or teach anyone about anything of salvation, and why Jesus is our Savior and then be living a double life. If they are saved, God will hold them to a higher judgment standard than the lay person.

However, you have to remember that these people have a sin nature like the rest of us and that satan tries to entrap them even harder than just us peons because their entire testimony is destroyed. When their testimony is destroyed, who will believe what they say about a Savior named Jesus. satan is so very sly and knows just how to make someone fall flat on their face. Been there! That's where you hear, "I had such good intentions!" My mom used to tell me that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. And, she is correct. God is not a respecter of persons.
