sick and tired od cr123's

Why are these batteries so feeble? I have got 3 pairs and only one pair works right. They seem to work a little, they will power my atty for like 2 seconds and stop. It has to be the pcb board limiting the power output. What can I do to fix this? Do i replace the pcb protection? aghhh.

What type of CR123's do you have? It's possible you have some bad batteries. Do you have a multimeter to test their voltage?

Yeah I have a meter. They are 3.7v trust fire. from focalprice. they show 4+ volts fully charged. and will power my atty for 2 seconds and then stop. I can let off the button, and press it again and it will go for another 2 seconds and so on. If i put my known working batt in my chuck its fine 3-5 seconds and it works as it should. What if i take the pcb borad off will they blow up in my chuck or charger? As I think this has to be the problem.

Im pretty sure the short is my atty firing up If you consider that a short?. As I have on good set of cr123's that work fine in it. and 2 pair that do this run for 2 seconds crap.

what do your batts read when you take them out of the unit? Is your charger working correctly? Maybe the switch can't handle the higher voltage.
If the batts are truly crap, go for it and see what happens, they're already worthless.

CR123 and CR2 batteries are cheap. Keep lots on hand as they do not last long, at all. I am lucky to get three months out of a pair of CR2's. I don't believe the mAh ratings are accurate. The last pair I tossed read 4+ volts, but no longer had enough current to run an atomizer for a few minutes.

Cheap huh. Damn batteries. One set was brand new just charged, and does this.
I will order more, I guess 10 pair would be enough at 70% failure rate. Ok Im done whining about it. time to move on. What about replacing the pcb has anyone done this?

Some rechargable battries have to be charged several times for the batterys to function efficiently........ There is one brand that recommends charging and draining 5 times and then the batterys will function at 100 % for 1000 charges....... Readingthe instructions might help....... Please forgive me, not meant to be offensive.......

They have no memory so you should only need to charge these once.

The voltage may still read ok but the Mah capacity of the batteries soon goes down with the kind of use we put them through.

Those are the exact batteries that ship with the Prodigy, so many of us are likely using them. I know that Steve at PureSmoker had tested many RC123a batts in trying to find the 'best' match for the Prodigy, and these are what he ended up going with.

I've been using them since I got my Prodigy two weeks ago, and they are working just fine. I get anywhere from 3-5 hours out of them on average, and so far I have not had any issues.

The ones from all-battery (tenergy's website) are protected. No idea on the batteryjunction ones.

I'm pretty sure those ones are (half) protected,as in, against overcharging only. No discharge protection I believe. I use them and find them OK.
