Long story short -
my SiD was shorting out because of the positive pin connection was wiggling around. I used a protank insolator after finding other posts about people doing similar things.
I hope others find this useful. Please give me any feedback if you have a better solution for this issue. I hope to do more of these kind of entries in the future...
