Sigelei 100 watt mod dual battery ? need help

I am currently using several Samsung ICR 1850-30b-SDI 2c33,3000 mah batteries (light blue color) in my straight mechanical mods. I get good run time out of them and I'm very pleased with them in general. My ? is about the sigelei 100 watt mod box I just ordered. With it being a high drain device they say that you should use 2-30 amp batteries *PLEASE USE 2x 30A BATTERY FOR THIS DEVICE*. My problem is that nowhere can I find the amperage for this battery not even from Samsung. I found pictures of spec sheets for it but none of them have it listed. It is sold for use in high drain products like laptops, flashlights and other high drain items. I would like to get everyone elses take on this, will it be safe? I cant see why they wouldn't work. Here are some specs Samsung ICR18650-30B
Charge Voltage: 4.35V
Nominal Voltage: 3.78V
Discharge cut-off voltage: 2.75V
Capacity: 2950mAh
Max discharge current: 5.9A
Does anyone know what some of the best 30a batteries are ??

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

The batteries you are using in your mech mod are not safe chemistry batteries. You should be using IMR (Li-Mn) or IMR/Hybrid "safe-chemistry" "high-drain" batteries. If you want to be safe, don't use your Samsung batteries in ANY mods.

Below is a blog post Baditude (our resident battery/safety expert):

Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?

SO based on this^...The one I just posted is on the Baditude approved list. Is it the best one? I don't know...but it should be a safe one. Weird that the mod requires two of them though.

From Bad's Blog.....

"As mod users, we depend heavily upon batteries. To assist novices to choose which battery to use in their mod I have written this guide. Our choices are IMR, protected ICR Li-Ion, and a new class of Hybrid batteries.

High quality IMRs are currently recommended in place of protected ICR Li-Ion for all applications. reference - Rechargeable Batteries

IMR (Li-Mn) are the safest batteries available for vaping. They use safer chemistry, so they don't require a built-in protective circuit like ICRs do. They have higher tolerence to stress, and although they may vent during failure it is less likely to be as dramatic as a ICR. Should protective circuits fail in ICRs they can vent violently in flames and possibly explode. ICR battery explosion

High Quality, Brand Name Batteries. Batteries are not created equal. I recommend buying only the batteries from the list below, paying attention to model numbers:

From everything I have read about multiple batteries, you should used matched pairs. Start off with two new batteries. These should be charged the same before use.

If you decide to get four batteries, keep them in the same matched pairs.

I was a bit concerned about that too...I know it applies to Stacking batteries...but what if they are side by side?

Here's a pic of the Sigelei 100 Watt...they are not stacked. They are side by side, so they each have their own positive and negative terminals..

Oh I forgot the:toast:...for you that is important PWIer...LOL joking.

Side by side could be stacked or parallel depending how they are wired. If they are wired positive to negative, they are stacked. Positive to positive, negative to negative, they are parallel.

Good point...trying to find the specs on the mod...not released yet btw. Can the OP request matched pairs from on online battery store?

I just watched a review by Vapingwith Twisted420. The batteries are connected in series.

Matched pairs just means identical batteries of the same age and usage. To be safe, start with 2 brand new fully charged batteries and mark them so you only use and charge the same pair at the same time. Of course you probably want 4 so 2 can be charging while using the other 2.
