Someone else posted a thread with my exact problem, in 6/2014, and it was closed without response unfortunately. I would have posted there otherwise. This is what they said:

sigelei 20W head dead. Can it be fixed?[/h]
My sigelei-20W head started acting funny, sometimes refusing to turn on unless a fresh battery was inserted but then resuming to normal. A couple of days ago it just refused to turn on no matter what.

It's out of warranty so I need to fix it somehow. Unless a replacement head is really cheap (like $20 total, s&h included) that's not an option. Can anyone suggest a way to fix it or do I have a nice useless set of tubes?

Even a workable way to convert it into a mech would be an alternative. Thanks for any input.

This is EXACTLY what mine has done, at just over 2 months of age. First a few lines on the OLED were dead. Then it would turn itself off and was flaky about turning back on. I thought my batteries were having problems so ordered a new set of efest purple IMRs. That worked for a bit, then it died completely.

I've already ordered a replacement, an evic that was on sale. I needed something! But I rather liked my Sigelei. I opened up the top to see if any wires were loose, it's a pretty simple setup with the circuit board just sitting in there, but I saw nothing obvious.
Oh, and I had some condensation inside it! That's probably what did it. I live on a super high humidity tropical island, and I was exclusively using an Aspire Nautilus 5ml on it. I did drop it a few times, twice breaking my aspire glass (so switched to the metal tube). I think when the aspire broke it leaked ejuice inside. So there's definitely some, eh, operator error that could have contributed to it.

Any ideas? Anything I can do? I really liked it and got it for a good deal at $69. It appears they're only selling the 30w now, and best price I can find is $84 on that. That's a lot to put out to replace a 2 month old device, and I never went over 10w anyway. (So the evic, which stops at 11w, is working fine for me - it was also on a great sale).

The chip is on a small circuit board with a ribbon to the screen which is then also on the circuit board, so obviously changing the chip isn't possible. I did partially slide out the circuit board to inspect everything, maybe just that needs to be replaced. I'm not totally incompetent, I've replaced cracked screens on phones and tablets, made modifications to my GPS antenna in my phone, etc. But I had guides for those -- and I don't have a soldering iron (though I know how to use one).

I'll check out the iStick.

I tend to drop my ecigs a lot as I stealth vape at work and keep it in my lap. We have tile floors. I really like 18650s for the life and, well, I have a lot. Is there an 18650 VW that's particularly sturdy for a reasonable price? I know I'll drop the evic and from what I've read they're even more fragile.
