I've got two #8s en route (via the USA - lol, these mods'll be better travelled than I am...). I'm intending to sand down the electrical contacts, and maybe install brass bolts inside the spring.

Just wondering whether anyone has attempted the cosmetic sanding WinchellNomNom did, only purely by hand? Is it feasible? Don't really care if it takes a while, but I won't attempt it if it's going to end up looking a mess...

(Where I live doesn't give me much room for a workshop or garage...)

Here is my #13 and #8. So it looks like the #19 is about the same height as the #8 and the #13 is a tiny bit shorter.

But it doesn't go all the way flush stock, does it? I removed the spring in mine and put a brass screw in the neg post.

Stock

Spring removed, neg post shortened and brass screw added.

Not stock, but the 19 d9esnt either stock.

I cut my neg post in half and removed the spring. Added a brass flat top screw. All most all attys I use sit flush after modding.

What I did, to get around the switch mis-firing ... way too many times

- Took a piece of stainless steel mesh #400, cut to a 3/4in square
- Punch a small hole in the center of the mesh
- Widen the hole enough so that the threaded end of the brass contact can slip through it
- Picture show where the mesh is placed

After putting the switch back together, with the mesh in place.
- Not having mis-firing problems.

I't's not pretty, but it works.

Got the springs in from FastTech today:
$0.67 Gold Plated Battery/Driver Contact Support Spring for C8/501B/502B and other Flashlights (2-Pack) 2-pack - 7mm diameter / 10mm height at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
They are stiffer than the original spring, and slightly longer (I clipped off the top coil with diagonal cutters to make it the same height as the original). The bottom coil was actually a little large for the post, so I slightly tightened it with pliers and slipped it onto the delrin post of the #13 cap. The #13 will not fire with this spring in place in either the top button configuration or the pinky button configuration.

Off topic I know but all I have is 18650s! They just seem like they provide the most "bang for the buck" and the mod still slips into a pocket easily. Where are the sweet heart deals on quality 18350s if a guy wanted to pick up a few of them?

If you are going to get the little guys, I would make sure to get the top notch ones. From all the research I did AW IMRs seem to be the best. I got mine from provape. Mine work great.

I'm using 18350 Trust Fire Protected Li-ion 3.7V 1200mAh With PCB... (yah-yah I know!)... but they r easily seeing me thru a full work-day (7-8 hrs.). I carry one additional in my pocket (in an 18350 battery box, the bats came in them), which I pop-in around 3-4 PM. So, I can't complain, they seem to work just fine... probably go an extra mile. And at $4.49 a pc they don't hurt, do they?
