So I got this TMax today. Wow this thing weighs a ton. The top and bottom caps are solid 1/8 inch metal plates. The outer shell covers a lot of metal inside. Add a 18650 and a 18350 and you are carrying around a shot-put. You can't use both batteries at the same time. The 18350 is like a reserve tank. The two bottom battery caps, one has a spring and the other a rubber insulator. On whichever battery you put the spring cap, that will be the one in use. The battery not in use rattles in the case. A small juice bottle can be stored instead of the 18350 battery. The switch also rattles. I have a couple Zmaxs and MVPs, thought this would be the best of two worlds, but it is way to big and heavy.

Ditto!!!
Why can't the T-Max weigh less and why can't the MVP read ohms.

I've been waiting for oh so long for a box mod that has the same features as the dozens of tube mods that are vv/vw. I've got a Provari and an eVic and I've had or have several high end mods. BUT I really like the box form factor for several reasons.
I got a VV Gripper = too small for where the button is placed, plus voltage not accurate.
From one extreme to the other with the Tmax. The TMax negates one of the pluses of a box mod, it is not pocketable unless you like your shirt pocket weighed down around your waist. It could make an anchor in an emergency and would be good to have in a fight. It is just ridiculously heavy. I've actually been thinking of taking it apart to see if there is a way I could remove some of the weight.

I know about the Groove but c'mon... really?

I know about the Reo VV -- I've had two Grands. No ohm reading or VW

I know about the DNA20 mods, would love to have one, but $250... really?

There are dozens of 18650 or telescoping tube vv/vw mods in the $65 to $85 range but not one practical comfortable box with the same features... yet.

When the MVP is upgraded unless something comes out between now and then it looks like that is the best bet.

How about a box mod with the features of a Vamo or Zmax with the button on the side (where everyone wants it, not front or back) that doesn't tip over with a gentle wind and as a plus can be charged via USB.

I think most of us would prefer an 18650 but a battery pack like the MVP is acceptable.
Like I said, many choices in tubes, not so much in box.

Boxes don't roll, fit nice in your pocket and should be able to stand up which is a big plus for Genny type atty users.
I just don't get it.

It's probably our fault. Everything's got to be stainless steel and build quality is always compared to the Provari.
The Chinese trying to make sense of this without a fluent translator (check Sigelei's text content anywhere) have tried to satisfy us by placing a ZMax chip in an anvil. They want tough -- we give 'em tough.

Box are the way to go IMO. Love the DNA20 I modded in a box but I really don't like soldering.
Got this for my Vamos but you end up with a lot of $ in it.

The entire history of the Tmax seemed rather shaky and confused right from the start. First prototype looked extremely interesting in terms of form factor and size, but despite this it only had a 16350 battery or similar underpowered battery. It looked like it could easily fit an 18650 in it which would have been ideal. When customer feedback on the underpowered prototype was less than enthusiastic, Segelei held up production for revamping the TMax.

Well, they gave us the 18650 we wanted for longer vape time, but increased the size (and resulting weight) to also accomodate a second battery (18350). Why do this? Can't we just as easily carry a spare battery in a pocket rather than in the mod itself? And to sacrifice easy pocketability for added weight for the second battery is just illogical to me.

I think despite their best intentions, Segelei still dropped the ball in the design of the TMax.

Since weight isn't an issue for me, I'm still interested in the T-max, provided I can get one
for around $60.

But the rattles that the OP mentioned bug me. I'm the idiot who hears EVERY SINGLE
rattle, buzz, squeak or creak in EVERYTHING. Drives me friggin' NUTS.

If the firing button rattles, I don't see how there's an easy DIY fix for that.

The spare battery rattling around though....could the compartment hold maybe a filled-and-ready-to-vape
Evod? Or at least a few standard (maybe even XL?) cartomizers?

The little bits of info that PBusardo got out of "George" from Innokin suggest a revamped MVP with VV AND VW
AND an Ohm meter, as well as a separate VV/VW box mod that will house an iClear30 within the enclosure.

All of which makes me WANT to skip the T-Max.....
But I still want one. An ugly gold/orange one at that.
Sometimes, I like obnoxious and tacky.

It's the button that rattles but it's not that bad.

PM sent.

I don't mind the button rattling or the weight. What I do mind is the fact that it is extremely difficult to get the spring to make contact, the right way, so that the device turns on. Maybe it's just the one I got, but it takes me at least 5 minutes before I can get it going and it only likes 1 of my 3 18650 batteries. No idea what the deal is there:facepalm:

I backed off the Tmax pre-order I had to get a Vmod ...and I'm glad of it. A friend of mine got the Tmax, and while he loved the looks and even the weight...he got ticked off because every third or fourth hit it'd "misfire" . Not fire at all. He finally sold it and got something else. Maybe the problem was the battery connection MsOceanCity mentioned. No idea really. But now I'm hearing about the Tmax from people who actually have one, I'm really relieved I didn't get one!

Quick question fourthrok:
Is the Vmod XL the same as the Vmod 2.0, only larger?
There isn't much of a written description of the Vmod XL on the site, but the
description of the Vmod 2.0 references it.

Also, thanks to everyone who's writing about the Tmax. I think I'll be waiting a bit, and now I AM
leaning heavily towards a Vmod.....

That's happening to me with the Zmax Telescope. At first I thought it was the coil on my Term C but yesterday started happening with my Vapeonly BCC. I'm really sad, I was really happy with it.

I have the Vmod XL...and while I don't have the v.2 one...I'm pretty sure that size this the only real difference. The XL holds a 9ml. bottle, and uses a 18650 IMR battery (although I've seen no mention of not being able to use protected Li-ion ones, too). Most of my batteries I had already in that size were flat top, and I've had NO trouble using them with my Vmod XL, but some claim that the button top are better. I've tried button top ones with it...and see no difference in the "throw" of the switch. I love the large bottle capacity (all day vaping! No constant refilling etc.!) and the long life battery. The shape and feel is comfortable and solid. It's just a really nice vape all round, and is by far my preferred APV. BTW...there's a 30% sale going on now...ends Monday. You can get an "A La Carte" XL for about $59 dollars and free shipping right now with the code NE89T (no..not an affiliate...just a happy consumer paying it forward).

I got a tmax also and also an mvp...all of your points are well taken....why cant china make this thing already? the tmax weight and size is ridiculous...its like hauling around a metal flask in your pocket

i really dont like those guys who run GV but it seems if anyone could get this across to the chinese factories it would be them...if some of you are GV fanboys, why not put this bug in their ear for us? ha
