I've had a Tmax a few days now, love it and use it all day, but the loose outer button bothered me, a little OCD I guess. I cut out a washer from a tool box drawer liner made of thin foam. Used a T7 Torx head to remove both end caps, pushed the inner frame out the top, and installed said washer between the button, and the outer case. Have to hold the button down with a small screw driver when inserting the inner frame on re-assembly. Snug as a bug now, but not to tight. If I bang on the side of the case, the battery will make noise, but some tape around the battery will fix that, I'm not bothering with it though. Used an acid brush with a metal handle to twist and cut the inside hole, fits perfect.

The little square washer shown below is the first one I made of thin cardboard from a cereal box, wasn't thick enough, so when I couldn't find a washer at the local hardware store, I remembered I had the tool box drawer liners, presto a perfect fit.

You can see the inner frame is made of think metal, that's where the weight comes from.

@Killowatt: I have not taken mine apart yet but am curious about how the heavy metal frame makes contact with the bottom (-) base. I am getting almost a 1 ohm reading between the bottom base and the (-) 510 connecter. I see no black wires in your pic so I am assuming the frame is the common negative. No matter what coil I put on mine it will not put out over 4.2v under load.

There's a spring on the bottom cap, I thought of putting some noalox where the spring makes contact with the bottom, and the internal frame. Might make a better conductive contact. Noalox on the threads should help with this as well.

I don't have any Noalox but will try this Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease and see if it helps....

That is an anti-oxidant, but noalox has zinc particles in it to aid conductivity. Just trying to help out.

Use the IDEAL NOALOX 4 oz. Anti-Oxidant Compound to improve the efficiency of aluminum conductor connections. This compound provides additional inner-strand and inner-conductor current paths.

Anti-oxidant and anti-seizing compound improves efficiency and service life of aluminum electrical applications
Suspended zinc particles penetrate and cut aluminum oxide
Provides additional inner-strand and inner-conductor current paths for improved conductivity and cooler connections
Reduces galling and seizing on aluminum conduit joints to promote good ground continuity
For use with pressure type wire connectors including screw-on, tap, service entrance and split-bolt

Something I just figured out with the Tmax, it doesn't like low batteries. I would have to twist the battery cap for it to fire, so I put the same battery in my evic and it showed a charge level at only 19%. I installed a fresh battery in my Tmax, and it fires like it should. I was beginning to get a little upset, thinking something was wrong, but a fully charged battery solved the issue.

So I got my tmax with a crooked 510 connector and it would not fire above 4 volts with a 2ohm aga-t on it no matter what voltage I set it on.

Took bottom and top cap off and removed inside of unit. Noticed that the 510 connection was on perfectly straight but the double sided tape applied only to the top portion of the inside frame is what was causing the crookedness. Removed the tape with a razor blade.

Noticed solder and crud on my 18650 battery connection. Took a piece of 200 grit sand paper and lightly sanded both battery connections to make a nice shiny contact point.

I then noticed the small as sh## spring on the bottom cap that is the only thing that makes connection with the inside frame. I stretched the spring out and put a dab of naolox on it.

Replaced the frame inside the case and made sure the button lined up correctly and held the frame inside with 1 minute epoxy instead of the double sided tape.

Now I am left with a tmax that hits like my zmax with a straight 510 connection.

What type wrench did you use to remove the bottom plate screws? My allen wrench won't work and I know they're not phillips heads.
