Big tobacco is finally feeling the pain from us vapers not smoking anymore... That's what this is IMO

Oh for sure. The big companies..... with the big dollars...... make the policies....and line peoples pockets. If the people, who are smart and want vaporizers for many reasons.... decided to stop buying cigarettes and cause those big companies to lose lots of money..... then they just make new policies to stop it! Or course those who don't listen don't get any money in their pockets..... which tends to make people listen.....

It's a sad thing.

This rhetorical thought crossed my mind this morning: What are the results of second-hand exposure to scented candles? Incense? Potpourri? Air freshener?

Oh wait! In 2008, Anne Steinemann of the University of Washington published a study of top-selling air fresheners and laundry products. She found that all products tested gave off chemicals regulated as toxic or hazardous under federal laws, including carcinogens with no safe exposure level, but none of these chemicals were listed on any of the product labels or Material Safety Data Sheets. Chemicals included acetone, the active ingredient in paint thinner and nail-polish remover; chloromethane, a neurotoxicant and respiratory toxicant; and acetaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, both carcinogens.

A plug-in air freshener contained more than 20 different volatile organic compounds, with more than one-third classified as toxic or hazardous under federal laws. Even air fresheners called "organic," "green," or with "essential oils" emitted hazardous chemicals, including carcinogens.

I am so glad this stuff it banned! It's not only toxic, it's blatantly misleading! How can it be legal for these manufacturers to claim it makes the air fresh? As if it's fresh air and good for people? Consumers might spray it inside confined spaces, like their homes, believing it's healthy and safe!

It's almost as if they don't realize that there is no combustion going on... I agree with the possibility of second-hand nicotine (since there is no validated study yet) but banning entirely is straight annoying. I come from a biology/chemistry background use the stuff myself, along with many other MD friends of mine... vape smuggling time! (I Kid I Kid)

What does "validated" mean in this context?

Scented Candles: The ugly truth

These devices are waxy death dealers. Known and proven emitters of carbon monoxide, short-chain aldehydes and more than 270 volatile organic compounds. They are burning away at the expense of the health of children. Some studies indicate that exposures to these devices even in worst-case scenarios of burning 30 candles simultaneously for 4 hours in a residential-size room without any ventilation/air exchange also found emission values to be of no concern. But where are the long term studies of these potential killers?

Furthermore, we are concerned that the use of scented candles (deliberately made in fruit and candy flavors) are an attempt to market them to children. There are potential uses of these as gateway combustion devices that will lead children to using various illicit combustible drugs. To date, not evidence to the contrary has been presented by the industry which is lighting up record profits each year from these potential death tubes.

Now you all know why just last week I went on a membership drive for CASAA in a thread of a similar vein. I am alarmed that my right to use my e-cigarette will be taken away from me by my government officials. It has already happened in many places throughout the world, and is in the process right here, right now, as shown by this thread.

As vapors, we have but ONE ADVOCATE, and that is CASAA. If you are reading this and are not yet a member, I beg you to join. It's free, and takes but a moment. The link is in my signature. Any organization's strength is perceived by the number of members in its membership. This forum alone has thousands of members and every one of them needs to be a member.

If you value your right to vape, JOIN CASAA! If you can donate some money, any amount, please do so.

I would love to see a PSA clip of opponents like Mary Jaccodine of the Tobacco Prevention Coalition stating:

“It has taken decades, but we are finally at a point where smoking is not considered glamorous," said Jaccodine as quoted in a press release. "If e-cigarettes become part of our social landscape, we are reintroducing the notion that “smoking” is harmless and acceptable.”

That is just disgusting. Not that any lion would drink cow's milk. But OMG. Chocolate booze milk??

Mankind is doomed.

It's probably not much different than a Mudslide, what bothers me is the way it's packaged and being marketed. Imagine if a 7-year-old found it in a cabinet.

I did not realize they made premixed versions. Here is a picture of one for those of you, like me, who had not seen them...

It's not "starting." They've actually been going at it for years now, but the ECIG community is very pro-active. Sign petitions when they come up and support our community, we're growing on a daily basis. I've been vaping for 5-6 years now and I've seen counties/cities/states attempt to shut us down frequently, 2-3 times a year even. We stop them every time.

I wish there was a something other than a "like" button.
