So when I started this rebuildable endeavour I was primarilly using silica. Then after a few shards came off in my fingers (and threading difficulties) after some limited use, I said "screw this, shredded glass?", not in my lungs, and went to cotton.

After much cotton use and some occasional nasty taste (may have neglected a proper thread pre-boil), tried some bamboo which was pretty decent but a bit difficult to thread into a coil.

So then I get a piece of hardware with a silica wick preinstalled and thought, "Well, just for a bit until it starts shedding, before, actually. Which happened after the second dry burn. But it was nice to even be able to do a dry burn :), but, still, not too crazy about glass shards in my innards.

So I am just looking for your thoughts about this, opinions, whatever, here in our little custom atty forum.

We've had a TON of discussion on the safety of silica wicks and we always find (even after scientific research) that the silica wicks are not dangerous to use in our e-cigarettes. They are safe to use. They will not break up into "shards" small enough to hit our lungs and harm us. They can fray, but they will not harm a human body through fraying. I truly believe this from what I've read.
