best wick material for immortalizer??? cotton vs silica

I use cotton exclusively but once you drip the weight of the liquid makes the cotton go to the well will this be an issue with the airflow being at the bottom, will it gurgle a lot if I add a bit more liquid? or should I stick to silica for this as it can be placed without touching the well

I use cotton in my immortalizers.
I can do about 6 drips without gurgling.
I try to make sure the cotton ends are next to, but not blocking the air channels.
If I do drip a little too much, a genny tilt and a few drags burns up enough liquid to make the gurgling go away.
