I seen several posts where folks have tried silica or cotton wicks in their genny style and they don't seem to work well enough. I'd would suggest trying a cotton wick first as it's cheap and wicks as good or better than silica. If you can get it to work well enough to suit you, then you could order some silica to try.

What will work is some cotton over the ss wick and under the coil. While that eliminates shorts and hot spots, it makes it harder to clean because you have to remove the wick to dry burn the coil.

You can roll a few cotton strands on the ss, or wrap a layer of cheese cloth around the ss.

Start this video at about 1:00 to see the bluegrasslovers method of adding a few strands of cotton.

I've seen that posted about the cotton over to stop hot spots. In my mind the less wick the better all since it's atty. I'm so dumb I didn't think Atties had any wicking matrial which was making them different from cartos. Then I learned the efficiency of a well built rba is such that lots of wick v/s barely any isn't such a VG difference. ORRent me if I'm wrong.
I don't munderstand the OPs question ow. Silica is all over on the venders site. Are you looking for single strand certain thickness?

Geeze. iAd. What a pain! VG = big ORRent= Correct

I'm looking for what size i should get.

2MM will be your best bet -- it won't fill the hole, but it will fit without you having to fray anything. If you can find it, 2.5MM might work, but it may become a choke point where it comes through the body of the DID clone.

Might try the 2mm silica, wrapped with a layer or 2 of SS -- it would give you a bit of a wider surface area for vaporization, fill the hole nicely and should wick really well.
