What it comes down to is a possible few could be damaged or incorrectly put together. Hell I have a picture of an adapter that I sent to someone...and some how the middle popped out. Regardless, I've sold 100s of these adapters and it's not a wide spread issue. It's more of a ...who is the lucky person issue :p So right now we're running about a 0.0025 chance that you will get an adapter that will kill your atomizers. So, go out and a buy a lottery ticket ;P

I believe that the center post was probably moving enough to touch the outside section due to the fact the washer was not providing support. Like I said all is fine after I took them apart and made sure the washer was towards the ends of the post. I think a 1 piece or 3 piece design for the washer would eliminate this problem. like add something in between the the 2 existing washers to keep them stable towards the ends of the post to prevent them from sliding down.
I think this would solve assembly errors also.

Rob or Chad can you pm me with the address to send the adapter back? One other question should the adapter work with a 201 atty as well? I am afraid to try it as I have lost two attys and don't want to lose another one.

I really appreciate you guys being so prompt and helping us out. Great job!

Try what I did, it fixed it. Such a simple fix.

I have no problem using my aapters..... I use Tenergy, UltraFire and have no problems...... I have used various 3.7 and 6.0 batteries with no problems...... I don't think the problem is with the Silver Bullet or the adapters...... I got the 901 - 510, 510 - 901 and the 501 - 801 with no problems......

It was definitely the adapters assembly.

Well even on 3.7v you need to keep them kinda wet inside. Sounds like you let it glow to long.

I've got an 18650 mod and other than the inherited problems that come with a 3 piece over cartomizers, my attys work about as good as on a passthrough..if not a teenie bit less so. I can't figure how he fried 901 attys at 3.7v unless they were bone dry..they shouldnt glow at all wet tho? so thats odd..wicking failure perhaps

Now at 5-6+..yeah you dont have long to wet a 901 when it goes dry at high voltage

I've got one of your 510battery901atty adaptors..its one of the coolest little things i own, use it daily.

I use it plus this really crappy cartomizer adaptor i got elsewhere to vape cartomizers on one of my mods, then i spin off the cartomizer and put on the 901 when i feel like ive been bad and need to be punished...my only complaint is that its a hard bugger to get ahold of to remove..but rubber gloves (im an EMT) resolve that usually, so ive not had to resort to pliers lol.

I'd give that bugger a 10/10 on all accounts

Thanks Loop!

Found mine had done the same thing. I have lost about 10 801 attys due to this,
Wish I had thought to look a long time ago. I was losing new attys like you wouldnt believe, very expensive.

After taking apart I found the washer on the small end had moved just like you said. Slid it back to the top and the center post is now not moving as it should have always been.

I always thought this adapter was playing a part in the attys just dying so quickly.

I guess lesson learned.. Thanks for your post. I would not of found it without your input!

Glad I could be of assistance, I knew someone else had to have had the same problems. This could easily be fixed if they used some different parts, like a 1 piece design or a 3 piece design for the washer section.

If you read the post's I have made carefully, you would see that it is not a problem with the atomizer being dry. I have used plenty of 3.7v mods without this issue. The issue was directly related to the adapter. I have posted the solution here so others wont have the same problem. If you do what I did in the solution post as soon as you get the adapter, you will not have this problem. It would be nice if they did a QC on the adapter before shipping the adapter out. I tried to see if I could get a discount on some new atomizers from AltSmoke, but Rob never replied to my e-mail :(

Loop sorry to hear that Rob didn't answer your email usually he's very good at getting back to people. In his defense he had been studying to pass his Net+ certification - which by the way he passed, and you may have slipped through the cracks so to speak. Try sending him a PM if he doesn't get back to you I'll give him a good talking to!

Rob sent another mail with all the information.
Thanks for being a stand up guy and making the situation right.

Thought I should also add, since getting past the initial adapter problem, the SB
has been a dream to use. I think it has one of the best feeling switches I have used so far,and it vapes like a beast! Maybe I will get a black bullet next if the wife does not protest. :p
