Silver Bullet had taken ill: suggestions for replacement?

Hi all,


The button on my SB seems to be dying. Setting that aside, I'm interested in suggestions from experience (second-hand is ok too ) of 18650 utilizing mods. I very much liked everything about my SB, but I am hoping that someone has experience with a mod that has not deteriorated functionally from normal use. I cringe to think there are no mods that do not have exponentially better switches than the SB. Pipe dream?

So, I'm looking for your thoughts on the most durable 18650 mods (preferrably 510 standard, but whatever).

ive had just about all of them ! ended up back with a silver bullet and a bb.pm chad on the altsmoke forum and hell fix your bullet for you.if youre just like totally done with it. i casn always use a spare

replace the switch, look for "vandal switches" and have a good time tricking out your silver bullet

For straight 3.7v I think all mechanical devices are a very valid choice, whether you build your own copper mod or go grab a Empire Mod(good luck finding one of those) or Reo Grand (yea, probably not going to find one of these easily either) or the precise 18650 (wait no that one is not in stock either)

for a mod that is actually in stock right now the $106 Don: THE MEGALODON
or the non mechanical saber touch with its 5 year warranty (at least you know its maker thinks its switch will last a long long time)

Yoyoma: I looked into replacing the switch but I'm not up to the challenge right now.
Kobold: Thanks for the suggestions! I would like to get a precise 18650 but the things are $260 odd dollars if I buy it here in Canada. Maybe I will look into it more and if people vouch for it, I'll consider it. Perhaps the Saber touch would be the best bet.


Everyone else: Any other suggestions are welcome. I particularly interested in how long you've had your recommended mod!

If you look for chad in the altsmoke forums I know or think I know he will usually replace the buttons pretty cheap. I would leave a message in the altsmoke forum and see what he says. If it is shipping and a little else, then you are out like 20 bucks, compared to the cost of another mod.

I bet Chad will replace the switch,and GLV has a new XL PV that uses an 18650.They use the best buttons Ive ever seen on a PV.It even trumps the SB switch.

Get your switch fixed. I wouldn't trade any 3 of my SB's for a different 3.7V device.

Maybe get an Omega. Still made by Chad. It's bulletproof. Or perhaps a prodigy v3.1. Sold it last month. Missed of so much I picked one up in the classys last week. I own both. Pretty solid. Just waiting on my Reo Grands to come in. Or just fix the bullet and get another one for backup. Always , always have a backup. I have 10 backup units from various vendors. Just paranoid a little. LOL

My 'backup' is the once helpful to me but now considered a POS, JOYE 510. Maybe I should fix the SB and get another mod

I love my Omega. It's so solid and no buttons to break. It uses a spring based method of switching, (if you can call it switching?). You press the top down and the battery makes contact. It feels great in my hand. I'm pretty sure you could run over it with a truck.

It seems many would agree that getting a SB as my first mod was a good choice. I'll check out the Omega bit more, thanks excool and others for the recommendations.
