I am making a 5volt boxmod. Lots of people say not to use tactile switches and the stock on/off switches as they can't handle the amperage. But what if I did this... instead of wiring the positive 5v wire from my power source to the on/off switch then the push button switch then the atty, what if I did the same thing except with the negative ground wire? So the positive wire would go straight from the power source to the atty, then the negative wire would go from the power source to the on/off then the push button then atty. Would this allow me to use cheap tactile switches with my box mod (if there wired up to negative ground wire not positive 5v wire)? I mean I have some switches that can handle the amperage but wouldn't really work well for this project. Thanks!!!

emus is correct. Also, many 5 v regulators already have an activation (or inhibit) pin for this reason... it allows you to use a small switch, rather than a fat 3-amp+ one.

You wire it in with a resistor to limit the current way down compared to what an atty needs. See the modder's section for more info.
