Hi, new member here ..
ECF is a wealth of info, and frankly, a little overwhelming. I've been vaping (Joye Egos) for a couple of years now (still haven't kicked the analogs yet but soon.. getting a strategy in place) and just got a VaporX XPS from a local tobacco shop. I really like the clear tank/ wick style cartomizer. I tried to find info here about better quality units but seems the 100000s of posts I found seem to deal with upgrades, rebuilds, mods, changing coil voltages and such. I am an electronics tech so I know about current passing thru a heater element, but just wondering if there is a thread with suggestions on good quality clear-tank ecigs without having to wade thru all the fixes for leaking pyrex tanks, changing o-rings, modding the coils etc .. I'll be getting in to that later, probably. Just looking for something simple; plug-and-play.. I have enough electronics projects to do already without 1 more on the table lol :] It's great to be here !!
Oh, and just to say .. my favorite e-juice so far is Backwoods Brew. I mix 50/50 555 and Casablanca and I like their new "Malty Toffee" too :)
Thanks-a-Bunch !!
Cheers,
Steve

little birdhouse in your soul
Unfortunately, people have success with some things where others do not. There is just as much of a preference on the atomizer/cartomizer/clearomizer/carto-tank/RBA/RDA unit as the juice.

For ease of use, which is my motivator.........I use a ProTankII with an Aerotank base and an iTaste vv/vw 3.0. I also have a Provari on the way. I just have to fill the tanks, charge the battery and change a coil when they go bad which has been the easiest of any of the other options I have tried.

So it only took you two years to get tired of the eGo's, and you want to step your game up a bit.

When picking out new gear, it's not so much picking out a spicific one as it is deciding which type (catagory) you want.
Do you want to drive a SUV or a sporty convertable type of deal. Right now you seem open to anything, so yours is a question with to many correct answers.

Well, actually I still like the egos TBH.. I have never had a problem with them. I am just liking the clear tank because I can see the liquid level. And the draw is a little better too . The VaporX strikes me as cheap quality though, just looking for something similar, but with better build quality. I don't think I need digital voltage readouts though. I like to keep it hidden in plain sight at work ..

The VaporX is really nothing more than a fancy (and expensive) eGo battery. You could have done better for the money, but whatever works for you...

I have several different egos, and have always used the Evod tanks with them. I've heard of problems with them, but I haven't had any problems whatsoever. Just fill them, screw them on my ego and vape away. I have replacement heads, and change them every so often. I've put the used heads to soak overnight in water, dry thoroughly, and then get some more use from them.

I just got a new MVP 2 larger box mod with ego threading, and I'm using all my Evods on it with great success, too. I don't want to have a bunch of different stuff that is not compatible with each other, so the Evods are perfect for me. They are reasonably priced, so I can have quite a few loaded with different juices and just change them throughout the day.

I'm using the MVP 2 with its larger battery life during the day, and still use my smaller egos when I'm out and about running errands. The Evods aren't totally clear, but have a window in the side so you can see the juice level. I think they are a sleek, nice look, too.

Here is a link to the Evods:

Wow, good info! Thanks everybody, this is a super forum! Kanger seems to be the consensus, so I'll go for them .. looks like exactly what I'm looking for.
I'm at home now with a couple of glasses of wine under the belt (I was at work earlier .. they block a lot of the sites you guys posted so I couldn't see 'em from there .. b@**ards.. lol .. :]

You will be happy with a starter kit from Kanger, Steve. Judging by your guy name, you might be likely to go for the black. I'm female, but that's what I got (to go with everything, you know.) I do want to warn you that it is hard to see the black ego on a table with any sort of ball point pens lurking around. A couple of times I was looking right at mine and just couldn't "see" it. When I ordered my next egos (Spinners) I got brighter colors so I can locate them easily.:)

    I'd suggest a miniprotant2 with innokin itaste vv V3.

The miniprotank2 would be the glass and steel equivalent of the evod, with replaceable tip/mouthpience.

the itaste vv v3 has VW, so you can set you power level and vape away withouth havng to worry about what the resistance of your coil is.

My first eGo style was a VaporX. It worked in so far as it got me off analogs, but I didn't like the lack of compatibility with most of the rest of the PV world. The one I bought, I found out after I received it, was NOT standard eGo/510 thread, and I didn't want to deal with adapters to use, say, a ProTank or anything else with that thread. The only compatible parts are VaporX brand, and considerably more expensive than standard eGo. An expensive lesson for me.

Yeah that's how I hide them in plain sight at work ;) A lot of pens, highlighters and sharpies around makes it invisible :D

That looks interesting, I dont know if I'd like the metal tip.. I'll have to try one to be sure .. Thx !

Yeah I noticed that too. Completely different threads. For $29 bucks it wasnt too big of a loss to try out a clearomizer tank style ecig :) I'll probably keep it for a little while anyway ..

    Thanks again everybody !

    .....

Yeah, a metal tip can be a problem depending on the metal.

the protank twos come with replaceable standard sized tips so you just replace with a standard drip tip.

I just have the original protank style, so I make use of some of the cartridge casings from cigalike stuff I bought last year:

I feel exactly the same way. I'm not looking for another hobby, I'm trying to get a fix. I haven't been vaping as long as you, so I probably can't offer any advice.

I bought 10 ce5 tanks a little while ago off eBay. Pretty cheap, but I haven't really been using them.I learned how to clean my ce4's & they're holding up pretty well. I don't know the brand names, I got two of them from a local smoke shop & they were in a bucket... I grabbed 2 for $10, that was over 3 weeks ago. Seems a lot longer though.

Anywho... before I go into anything more exotic, this stuff is going to have to seriously fail on me.
