"Labels".... who cares?!

Get your 5 posts in and you'll be free to roam and post anywhere you want except for the modding forum. I think you need more than 5 posts to post there but I'm not sure how many are required.

The only thing you don't want is a little star ( * ) by your member status. It means you've riled up the post police.

<<-- Oh look.... there's one right there!

You get a little star? No fair, I want to be special too. xD

I should probably do some browsing of the modding forums. All the modding I do that I feel is genius is probably old news, just that I learn the hard way better than the easy way. Like taking a brand new Tobh clone to a dremel and angle grinder without any previous knowledge of metalworking...

Hmm.... I had a star once... wasn't fun....

Anyway, on topic. I agree with there being a test you CAN take IF YOU WANT to show your ability level.

That being said.... I fail to see any logical link between knowledge and post limiting. Post limiting is a safety measure to prevent trolls and other posting infractions. Your post count, as stated, has zero impact on your credibility. You can have 9,999,999,999 posts and still be a ....., and likewise, have 100 posts and be the smartest person here. The quality of your posts, and contributions to the community, should be enough to gauge your prowess.

A test to "certify" your ability to rebuild, DIY, or APV/Mech, etc, would be cool, but about as useful as a supporters badge, or "verified" tag. It would show that you know, or are a member that can pass the test, yet still will not prove that your responses are valuable. What, and how you post, is the only true judge of that.

yeah post count is no indicator of someones knowledge, there are people who just constantly post in all the freebie give-away threads, 100s of post a day trying to win something. Nothing wrong with that, free is always great... but someone who has a +20,000 post count can sometimes know not very much at all.

Hi,
Reading through this topic I fail to see any advantage to a member 'Rating'. I live in British Columbia I am new to Vaping and Ask a question I get 25 answers
from people all over the USA and each one says something different, I have to evaluate what I get from the 25 answers, I can't drop over to his/her home to have it varified
can I?
If i ask How to build a coil...cant' pop over to a guy in Floridas town see how it is done.
So what skill set one has in replying is kinda not applicable in some ways...

Excellent point, I might, for the sake of argument here, point out that in a public forum, people are free to answer however they want, regardless of their knowledge level. If you ask me what 2+2 is, I can tell you 5 all day long and 10 other people can give you ten other answers with the same certainty when in fact, the correct answer is 4.

It is up to you, the poster, to gauge the most useful response, and having an indicator of how advanced the knowledge of the individual is, would greatly assist you with that. Sure, you can look up all their previous posts, and cross reference the topic, and read other threads etc, but having a single, easily view able indicator of if this person knows what they are talking about, would be very useful.

Another good thing to point out about your response, is that there are many things, such as rebuilding, that are very subjective. How you do it is very loosely defined by personal preference and short of tagging every statement as "this is my preference/opinion", you must take every response as just that, subjective preference, not stone hard fact.

The easy solution to this is to look for the answers that come from the UK ;)

BC is in Canada, not the UK. ;)
If you're in the Vancouver/Richmond area, I'm pretty sure there are a vew proper vape shops/lounges in downtown Vancouver. I'm not sure about elsewhere. My extended family is all entirely in west van or Richmond.

No need for a skill set whatever quiz, people's post quickly identifies what level their skill set is. Very easy to recognize a experienced cutting edge vaper, and they usually don't wine about forum rules. Frak, every forum out there has a post count, level up type title.

Post count never has or never will be the indicator of ones vapeability, proof is in the pudding, or something like that:lol::D

Erm...I think you misunderstood what I was saying...

It was a joke implying that the only answers worth listening to come from UK posters.
