Before getting into sub-ohm rebuildables I was pretty much an exclusive cart-tank user. I like the form-factor, and overall they fit my needs better than any other delivery device.
NNow that I've gotten used to vaping sub-ohm rebuildables, carto-tanks don't really "do it" for me anymore. I tried a Killer clone in hopes of bringing new life to my carto-tank collection, but I only ended up with marginally better performance and a whole lot more hassle compared to an actual carto.
So, my thought was, why don't any manufacturers make SLR coiled cartos? Just a totally standard carto, but with 28ga Kanthal coils at say .7ohms. I wouldn't expect the same flavor or overall performance of a sub-ohm rebuildable, but I imagine a carto with an SLR coil would blow any current cartos out of the water.
My first thought was that wicking might be an issue, but I'd bet a carto could supply more juice to the coil than a wick would, considering the coil is in direct contact with the filler material, which is saturated with way more juice than any wick would hold. SLR coils with 28g kanthal don't really get ridiculously hot compared to regular coils so I wouldn't imagine burning filler would be an issue with SLRs (well, I mean no more of an issue than a regular carto)
The only negative thing I could come up with, is that new vapers might not really understand what an SLR carto is, and potentially put it on a device that can't handle the current draw. There is still that risk with rebuildables, but it would be a lot easier for a new vaper to use a SLR carto by accident than it would be to buy an RBA and build a subohm coil by accident. Although I really don't think the guys in China pumping this stuff out care much about things like that.
Thoughts? Does this sound like a product you would like? I'm just sitting here dreaming of vaping a .7ohm cartotank, and how glorious it would be, and wondering why this reality escapes me! Although knowing how the Chinese do things, we'd likely get a .7ohm carto made with 36ga wire that burn the second you press the button.
