I usually set up my gen atty's at 1.0-1.2 ohms. I tried slr (0.6-0.8 ohms) before but went higher because I wanted to be able to use my devices on both my vv mods and mechanicals. I recently wanted to give them another try so made a 0.7 ohms coil with 28g kanthal. Set up with no hotspots. Dripped juice on them and saw no glowing coils. So I put juice in the tank and tilt at 2 o'clock and noticed that top coil heat up and glow. Emptied the tank and checked for hot spots, everything looked fine. Fiddled with the coils anyways to make certain the coils were touching the wick and it was close as possible to the center post. Checked the wick for any strands. Everything looked fine. Filled the tank again and noticed the same thing as before. I then just tilted without firing to check if the wick was wicking properly. I saw juice flowing out like it normally does with my other set ups. I then decided to tilt it while firing at 3-4 o'clock and it looked good. Threw the cap on and took a vape, it was great. Good flavor and tons of vapor.

Now my question is whether or not this is normal for slr setups. Do you have to always tilt like this? I'm loving the vapor and flavor it's producing, but a little annoyed by the extreme tilting I have to do to make sure the wick stays wet. Do I need to make a fatter wick or try it with the bottom half not oxidized? This wick works fine when I set it up with higher ohms. Should I just trash the wick and just make a new one?

Hey, there, you didn't tell us what your wick was. How many inches of ss did you have rolled up in there? My experience is, yes, you need more wick for .6Ω. Or you need a supercharged wick. (A really good wick). I think I was rolling 5" of mesh for 1/8" wick and 7" for 5/32" wick. (Now I'm back down to 1 3/4" @ 0.6Ω)

Well the wick I'm using was actually the same one I used when I had it set up at 1.4 ohms. With 400 ss mesh, I think it was 4" by 4.5". Juice is a diy 45/55 pg/vg.

My atty is a cobra by the way. Gonna try a fatter wick to see if it makes a difference. Gonna try all the tips given, thanks. Time to take out the torch. Glad the wife's asleep, she hates seeing me use the torch in the house. lol I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Good luck, hope you get it wicking better. Let us know;)

I don't have a cobra but I believe it has a 2.5mm wick hole. On the aga-t2 which has this size wick hole, I actually had better results using LESS wick and a higher resistance coil (32g). Less ss means less heatsink which means you need less power to reach the same coil temp. 4" is a lot of mesh to stuff in that size hole. Like pdib said you don't want to choke off the wick. A little gap allows juice to flow up the wick hole outside the wick. This speeds up wicking. And you're gonna need it with the relatively thick juice you're using.

Well after 2 hrs. I made a solid fat wick with a little hole in the center. 400 ss mesh. The thing that gave me trouble was wrapping the 28g wire, 3/4 wrap. I torched it to make it easier to wrap with but it just wouldn't cooperate. It kept leaving some areas around the wick loose. I was wrapping it the same way zen wraps in the videos. I went with the Petar K method. This usually doesn't work well for me, but I guess since I'm using a fairly fat wick; the coils wrapped snug around the wick without choking it.

Tested it out with a few drips a couple times. No hotspots. Filled it with juice. Did a 2 o'clock tilt. Everything looked good. Popped the cap on and took a vape. Wow. Nothing but clouds and great flavor. I took off the cap and held the fire button for a good 10 seconds tilting it. It's wicking good, only drying after hold it vertical for too long. Didn't have to tilt it to 3 or 4 o'clock at all. Since this is a new wick, I'm guessing it should perform better after it breaks in. It ended up at 0.6 ohms using what I'm guessing a almost drained 18650 aw imr battery, since I'f been using it most of the day and using it to build this set up for the last 2 hrs.

Thanks for the tips and advice, you guys really helped me out tonite. Man it's 3 am, I got work in the morning. I'm still buzzing from the nicotine right now. lol

I'm loving the Roller, I ended getting the ice matte finish. I kinda wish I got the plain matte or polish. I had the plain matte in my cart but was hesitating and it was sold out when went back to look at the ice matte. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice looking color. It's just nothing matches it. Wish there were some atty's out there with at least a dark grey look to match it.

I'm thinking of purchasing a polish inner tube to make it blend a little with the devices I put on top of it. Probably gonna wait til the new rugged button is available for purchase.
