I'm SO sick of these ^$%*&# little switches!

pRS1C-2160455w345.jpg

I like the size of the button and it's the perfect size for a 3/4 tube, but they keep dying on me, which is, I'm sure, because they're rated at only .5 amps.

I've tried a couple of tactiles, but the button does not protrude enough on some styles PLUS I cannot get them ANY of them to attach to the inside of the tube well enough (using Loctite epoxy).

I've read about mosfets, but looking at them on RS website, they look almost exactly like a 5V regulator, which means I don't think one will fit into the tube where I need to install it.

Any ideas?????

Thanks,

Sherry

That's the problem with small switches, they just aren't rated very high. A mosfet or 5V regulator with control pin will allow you to use any switch w/o harm.

If you've got a switch you'd like to use but the button isn't long enough you could consider lengthing it or attaching a button on the end.

There are some 3a switches not a whole lot bigger than the ones you showed (~1/8" more length inside the case & with a longer shaft and removable button cover)

Sorry it's not the answers you were hoping for.
