..... iPV Mini doesn't have buck (step down) despite the specs. Great value though.

Your right! .... I just did a little experiment with my iPV Mini:

I had the idea that the chipset in the iPV Mini would be able to both change output voltage below and above battery voltage (based on the ohm coil you were using along with the selected watts you desired).

But I was wrong ... The iPV Mini can in-fact boost output voltage above battery voltage, but it cannot decrease output voltage below the batteries current voltage:

Using a digital Fluke multimeter, and an authentic Kayfun Lite Plus with a 1.3 ohm single coil, this is the voltage that was shown at the coil screws at various watt settings

BTW .... The battery at the time of this test was indicating 3.8v

Yet another possibility. I'm hooking up a brother who still smokes this christmas. For a starter rig I got him an eleaf istick and a Nautilus mini tank. Then I discovered there is a hinge attachement made for the istick where you attach one side to the istick and the other side to the tank allowing you to fold the combination for pocket carry. I haven't tested the hinge setup, that will come this weekend. Seems pretty slick if it works. Now I'm jealous of my beginner brother's set up. There is so much cool vape gear coming along.

I think the OP wanted a 18650 device.

Thanks for pointing that out KTM

I like the idea of the iLeaf,iGrip, iStick and others that have the super small form factor - the intention of the original post - but I'm totally done with the integrated battery thing. Just won't work for my vaping needs (been there) I really want to be able to leverage the 18650's I have and love the battery life. I am not a fan of trashing a whole mod because the battery went toast. Plus, I would need two of em to get me through a day.

Its looking like finding a good deal on a VTR may be the best compromise for me..

I do like the discussion that is going on and ya never know when someone will respond with a total gem. That's the beauty of these boards right?

So thanks to you all!!!

I haven't read through all the posts, but the Protovapor XPV is worth mentioning here, at least in my opinion. I do not have one, nor do I know anyone who does. But it seems to have a decent following, and I really am a fan of the design. Each model uses an Evolv chip, either the 20 30 or 40 DNA.

I have one and wouldn't exactly call it small... Just skinny
