Here's what I wrote to the big guy:

Wow, Dana, you've really come down hard on my drug of choice, nicotine. Also, you've done so in an unfair, deceptive manner. Let's compare nicotine to your drug of choice: refined sugar, and find out whose habit is the true burden on society.

Let's see...

1) Addictiveness
nicotine: Obviously, very addictive. I'm definitely addicted.
sugar: More addictive than c0caine, and I'm sure you couldn't easily go a week without your highly refined carbohydrate fix. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/a...8/06/is-sugar-more-addictive-than-.......aspx

2) Obesity
nicotine: does not promote obesity. My body fat percentage is between 8 and 10% (No, I don't really exercise, and I eat a lot of calories every day).
sugar: Is essentially the cause of obesity. From the looks of your profile picture, you appear to be anywhere from 20 to 45 lbs.overweight.

3) Cancer
nicotine: is not a carcinogen. http://conservancy.umn.edu/bitstream/57438/1/ZinggelerBerg_umn_0130E_10749.pdf
sugar: is cancer cells' favorite food. Blood sugar and cancer risk

4) 'Kid Appeal'
nicotine: itself not so attractive to the typical modern kid who has grown up in a milieu of anti-smoking propaganda.
sugar: Don't even get me started...

5) Metabolic Syndrome
nicotine: is not linked to metabolic syndrome. I'm doin' just fine, and my blood pressure was 106/70, last I checked.
sugar: is the cause of metabolic syndrome. Your drug leads to diabetes, atherosclerosis, hypertension, dyslipidemia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic kidney disease, etc. YouTube - ‪Sugar: The Bitter Truth‬‎

I'll take my personal vaporizer and its nicotine over your miserable diet any day -- and I'll end up burdening the health system far less than you.
