Smell to others?

Kind of an odd question, but is the vaping smell generally unpleasant to others? I was under the impression it didn't smell like anything, and I honestly can't smell it myself (not surprisingly). My wife started complaining when I received my new flavors that the smell is strong, "like burnt cigarette filters and incense." (and no, that wasn't the flavor I ordered ) And the taste isn't burnt, like when I over-do a cart and burn it.

After establishing it wasn't just complaining :2cool:, I'm curious if there's a trick to the smell, i.e. does a % of pg/vg, a "boosted" flavor, a sweeter flavor, higher nic content, etc. make a difference?

Don't mean to post a "my foot falls off every time i vape" (exaggerated) kind of medical question, but since I'm still very-much a newbie, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask and there might be something I'm simply not aware of.

When riding in the car with me my family says my 'coffe' flavors smell just like coffee, they like the smell and enjoy it !
as far as the rest of your question, the 'smell' probably depends on how strong a concentrate of the flavoring was used in the mix. And medically....it's still not been determined, it's a 'do at your own risk', but honestly this HAS to be safer than analogs !

Depends what you vape I guess. I vape menthol and peach mostly and my husband can't smell it and he doesn't smoke. My mom vapes tobacco flavors and I can smell it while she's vaping but it doesn't linger and it isn't offensive or anything. Not a lot different than one of candles that smell like birthday cake or some other flavor. Hardly revolting.

You're not smoking. +1 for you. I wouldn't get paranoid about the odor. I really can't imagine anyone complaining about the odor of juice after they put up with the smell of cigarettes. Unless your juice smells like toxic waste or cat pee it has to be better than cigs.

Get off his back, woman!

My first order of juice, the contents spilled. The box and all the bottles smelled like cola. Since then, my wife can't stand the smell of it. That's the juice. Otherwise, she hasn't really complained about the smell.

The only time I get a complaint is when those bottles come out for refilling. Then the whole place smells and she nags me ad nauseum.

Others definitely smell the vape, my entire study smells of coconut right now after a small heavy session of vaping coconut juice. I think the smell to others depends on the flavoring, I cannot imagine tobacco ones smelling any good but some more natural ones probably do. I got a couple of nice comments on how my vanilla juice smelled and a couple of bad one on my coffee one (granted the coffee also tasted nothing like coffee)

Every once and a while my GF will catch a whiff of some vapor and she will ask what flavor if it smells like a flavor I havent vaped but there has only been one juice she found the vapor to be unpleasant. it was a popular honey flavored one which was too bad for me because I found it to be pretty yummy.

When I smoked I never smoked inside because she and even I found the smoke to be unpleasant but both my MF and I agree, the vapor for the most part is very tolerable. Even enjoyable at times

I have a honeywood that my wife and one of my coworkers both said smelled bad, but my wife likes the smell of cinnabun.

That's odd. I had a honey tobacco flavor that others said had a pungent odor to it. I loved the flavor, but they said it smelled something like dirty, rotten feet. They also said the smell didn't linger. I guess that's a good thing. But, I stopped using it since I didn't want anyone thinking the smell was coming from any part of my body.

From my experiance, a couple of the tobaccos had a smell others around me found objectionable.
Most of these, had a taste I REALLY did not like, so they didn't offend others for to long.
Funny thing, since others are reporting simmilar things, it was a honey cured tobacco that I liked the taste of but still smelled nasty to others.

I actually vape in my office and the other 3 I share the office with don't mind it at all. In fact they say it's better than when I use to walk in after an analog and the lingering smell.

My boss came into the office when I was vaping Cinna rollz and said "WOW...it smells so good in here! I have a craving now to go to the mall and get a Cinna Bun" :)

It's all good

My friend and I performed a very informal experiment where I blew my Hot Cinnamon vapor into her vicinity, and she couldn't smell it. Since it was one of my more powerful flavors, I was quite surprised. I haven't noticed a lingering scent from any of my vapes, but I'm still rediscovering my sense of smell post-analogs. In any event, I can't imagine that any vape is .001% as bad as regular smokes - phew!

I have a co-worker who vapes near me and I can catch an aroma similar to the aroma of a candle shop when he is in my area. My wife loves the aroma when I vape cinnamon and she thinks that my bourbon flavored liquids smell like vanilla. Other than that, I have never had anyone mention an aroma to me.

When I vape around others, if they do notice a smell, it's usually "oh, that smells nice. that's not smoke, is it?" But most of the time no one notices. I've used every kind of flavor except tobacco. However, my mom has a tobacco flavor that has hints of chocolate and other sweet stuff, and whenever she vapes around other people they comment on how nice it smells. I even enjoy the smell, though I hate the flavor of the vape.

The only negative comment I've gotten was from my boyfriend. It was snide and snarky like, "roll your window down more, that stuff's worse than smoke." (I should add, he's a smoker.) I didn't bother to ask if it was the smell, thickness, breathing/general irritation, or what... I just chalked it up to his penchant for poking fun at me. I started making a point of stealth vaping whenever we're in confined spaces and it hasn't been mentioned since.

Overall, no smell from any juice that I've encountered has been as bad as tobacco smoke, to me or those around me.

I am is a somewhat similar situation to yours.

Firstly, let me start by saying my wife is actually a super hero gifted with the not so desirable and/or practical power of Super Smell. She will detect scents and the nuances of them all as if she was a cat. (note, cats actually have a stronger sense of smell than hound dogs)

At this point, she can even tell the difference if I am vaping Dekang or High Caliber, regardless of the flavor. Needless to say, she can most certainly notice a smell from vaping.

Curiously, while she did not particularly care for Dekang smells, they did not offend her sense much. Now, High Caliber, on the other hand... she was not a fan. As soon as I fired up my brand new bottle of Sin-A-Bun when it arrived, she complained of a very strong chemical taste. For me, that vape actually smelled like a cinnabon, but to her it was quite pungent.

Luckily, smells from vaping rarely ever linger. Most will dissipate in seconds and only a few very strong flavors will stick around for a while. Now, I semi-stealth vape those stronger-smelling juices when I'm around her, or cut them down with a less offensive juice.

PS: The daughter, who inherited my wife's super powers of smell, also mentioned High Caliber juices "smelled weird", but did not seem to be particularly offended by them.
