Hello everyone!

I'm making the decision to switch over to vaping and have decided on an alien al85 kit. I've pretty much got everything cleared up except that i just found out that the two batteries i'd like to buy (sony vtc5a) are just as expensive as 4 lg irc hb6's. Since i'd like to vape at any wattage, 85 watt included, and am suspectible to chain vaping (i do already have experience with vaping but haven't made the switch yet since my current vape pen has a lot of drawbacks) i was wondering if the lg irc hb6's would be better (temperature and safety wise) or if i should just buy the vtc5a's for my own ease (less switching/charging)? I'll be buying my batteries from nkon.nl since i live in belgium.

Thanks in advance!

If you plan to vape 85 watts on that setup, I'd say go with the Sonys but even that may not help your battery life much if you plan on vaping 85 watts a lot. That's probably going to drain your batteries quickly no matter what you use. I'd suggest not doing that very often at least when out and about, it's going to be a battery drainer for sure.

Hi and welcome. Either will do for the full 85 watts. I think you'll have a better user experience with the Sonys as you will change batteries less often, but you'll probably come out better by a Euro or two if you go with the LGs as you'll get twice as many batteries and maybe just a bit longer expected useful life. Is saving a Euro worth changing batteries twice as often over the life of the cells (a year or two, probably, depending on how hard you vape) worth it? You make the call :)

And Merry Christmas...

If you plan on vaping up to 85 watts I suggest you get a dual battery mod. It will be hard on your equipment running it maxed out.
I second this comment :thumb: each battery are good for about 60 watts so dual battery mod = 120 watts.
85 watts on a single one will put it under more stress for no reason. But if you have to use that mod with that power i'd still say go with some sony ones.

Allright, thanks for the answers! I'll keep myself in check then and vape only at 85 watts once in a while. The only reason i'm opting for the al85 and not the 220w kit is accually because i'm a student and can't afford to buy extra batteries needed to vape during the span of a full day. The 220w kit is about the same price as the al85 though. Maybe my decision is not as grounded as of yet. A 220w kit could cut my needs if the hb2's could charge in 2 hours tops. Would that be possible? On the other hand, i think my average wattage needs will be around 20-50 watts. Going at it with 85 watts will probably be quite unneccesary and not an everyday thing.

The AL85 and Alien kits both come with the TFV8 Baby Beast tank. While a couple of the available coils are rated "best at" up to 80 watts, I use the T8 coils and stay at or under 60 watts and some say they run their tanks much lower then that. If you run your BB tank at 60 and up watts, you may find that 2 batteries may not get you through a full day. And personally, I prefer carrying that extra battery in the mod.

You have mentioned:

Sony VTC5A 25A 2500mah
LG HB6 30A 1500mah
LG HB2 30A 1500mah

While any of those will give you the amps to run up to 75 watts in a single 18650 mod, your battery life will be limited. The VTC5A and a back-up may get you through a day with a total of 5000mah. A dual 18650 mod with a pair of 20A, 3000mah batteries will give you power up through 120 watts and 6000mah battery life. More power with longer battery life! It pretty much comes down to the cost of 1 battery, the AL85 with 3 batteries (just to be sure you get through a full day) or the Alien/any dual 18650 mod with 4 batteries (an extra pair just for insurance and to keep you vaping while the spent pair charges). That and the personal preference on how big/heavy of a mod you want to carry.

If you can't tell, I would suggest the Alien (or most any dual 18650) with a married pair of 20A/3000mah batteries to start and if/when needed, a second pair of batteries.

Welcome and good luck!

So i've decided to drop the pre-made e-liquids, buy some cheaper aroma's which i'll mix with some consumption grade glycerol which i have at home, get an alien 220w, buy 6 lg irc hb6's since at the double voltage and half the amperage the battery life will be about the same as a vtc5a in the al85 at the same wattage. I don't think i'll mind switching the batteries a little more. Same price, less premade e-liquids but a more fitting one-time purchase for more slack for a long time to come (well, lets hope so hah).

Thank you all for the suggestions!
