Smok Alien with TFV8 Baby using V8 Baby T8 Coils in TC mode

Hi, I just bought a smok Alien and when I asked the guy in the shop for TC compatible coils he sold me a pack of V8 Baby T8 coils. I have put one of these in and set the the mod into TC mode, selecting a coil type of SS and setting the temp to 240C. I've read in a number of places that all the pre-built smok coils are for use in wattage mode only, can anyone advise if what I am doing is supported or will I end up breaking my Alien?

It won't break your power device but it should kick you out of TC mode.
None of the Smok heads use a TC compatible wire type.

There are no stainless steel smok coils heads that I know of. What you have is kanthal and that should be vaped in wattage mode only. Smok also doesn't do TC that well, so if you do wind up purchasing an RTA that you want to coil with stainless steel or another TC material, or if you'd like to try a different drop in tank with SS coils that are actually SS, you may want to err on the side of caution as far as highest temperature, which should be 420 max, but I might start out lower on a smok mod.

They're not that great a TC, I have heard. Wattage and low resistance coils are their wheelhouse. I'm not saying you can't make a smok mod work in TC, it's just that it may not be the most accurate TC of all time.

Go back to the shop and create a stink. You were misinformed and mis-sold.

Either he/she didn't know any better, perhaps next time they will sell someone a dangerous combination of equipment.
Or they did know better and lied to you to get the sale. Either way they should not be working in a vape shop.

Only kanthal coils are available for the TFV8, they are not available in any of the coil metals required for TC.
