IIRC the updater has the ability to download the current firmware of the Alien to Disk backup for later re-installation. Others who updated their aliens to the later firmware were reportedly able to restore the previous version from the units belonging to a friend or a second unit they purchased. I did not do this myself.Trying this again; has anyone found the 1.2.1 firmware for download? Or is there a way to download the firmware from the Alien. I'd like to update the firmware from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 but don't dare to without the option to go back to 1.2.1.

Do you know the steps on how to download the current firmware that is on the device or know of users that have done this?IIRC the updater has the ability to download the current firmware of the Alien to Disk backup for later re-installation. Have not seen 1.2.1 for download nor am I aware of another user who has posted a copy of it.
I don't think the ISP tool has that ability. At least I couldn't find a way to do it.IIRC the updater has the ability to download the current firmware of the Alien to Disk backup for later re-installation. The tc isn't as good as on my Joyetech/Wismec/Eleaf mods. At 220°C I get a slightly bad taste, not quite burnt, when the tank is running dry and at 100°C I'm getting way more vapour than I should. I'd like to try out the 1.2.2 software but I'm worried that I'll have problems with it, as some others have.I just left my firmware at v1.2.1 and have no plans on updating.

You must have the batch of good ones.... hahaI was a sucker and upgraded as soon as I got it to 1.2.2. TBH, the SS TC is OK once you set the TCR to 92. I've used a tobeco Super tank with their SS 0.3 ohm notch coil and it actually makes for a nice pairing. I have not cycled tanks on to test them all out, so it could just be some weird lucky fluke that mine is OK with that pairing. I've certainly read of issues from others, and wouldn't want to say "sure, go upgrade, all will be good!" because of that, but mine came through.
Oh, and I've been blessed with a decent paint job too. No cosmetic issues to date. Maybe the vape fairy just liked me on that order.![]()

I was like you and upgraded to 1.2.2 right away when I got mine. I'm one of those guys that always think that the latest is the greatest even tho that has proven wrong many many times.
As for the paint... I'm getting some chipping on the bottom of the mod also. But here is the kicker, I've had a silicone sleeve on it the second it came out of the box.
For the most part, my Alien is fine also if I use it in single coil mode with coils over 0.5ohm, with dual coils under 0.43ish ohms it sometimes pauses mid fire and starts up again.
I agree to a certain degree. I can see how manufactures want to keep the cost low since the markup for these devices might not be as high as we think considering how cheap these mods are these days. With the exception of DNA devices of course. It's amazing how the QC is all over the place on this stuff. Yes, manufacturers are building more features at low price points, but it reaches the point where I'd prefer fewer features and better build, or just charge me enough to build it well.
Old firmware can misfire. It is only the ss TC people took issue with as being unstable & it can be all over the map forcing removal of atty, zeroing out with a button press & reinstalling to correct it after it sleeps if you did not lock the resistance in.Hope my Alien will be delivered tomorrow, thanks to all of you! I back read and saw that it's better to stick to the old firmware. This will be my very first mod I was just borrowing from my bro (rx 2/3).
Thanks for the information mate, other than the ss tc the other tc not having problems?Old firmware can misfire. Those misfire bothered me more than locking in the resistance.
That is all I heard them complain about. I have only used it in ss TC and it is manageable, but can be annoying. Not as annoying as the many misfires I had with 1.2.1 on my early blue alien though. Thanks for the information mate, other than the ss tc the other tc not having problems?
The misfire issue was fed back early on by reviewers and might have been addressed in later units coming off the line with 1.2.1.I guess luck then that I'm not getting any miss fires on v1.2.1 as I've never noticed it.
IMHO: it is really a 'dice roll' if those having issues with SS might also be having issues with the other wire types. I don't recall seeing any posts that the TC modes were extensively tested and only SS was effected.
Many folks who use SS simply fall back to power mode.
(Alien replaced IPV6X which replaced SIG213)
yes it does... it's very matchy matchy!Thats why I grabbed em before they sold out. I'm thinking my black azeroth will look great on the gold alien since it has gold accents.
