I just got my smok eGo Winder 1300mAh in the mail yesterday. It was fully charged so I started using it. It did well. Lasted about 28 hours minus my 7 or 8 hours of sleep, (so 20 or 21). Anyway, I went to charge it. Put it on my Ego charger and the charger light turned red as normal. The light on the Winder flashed a few times and went out. Thought all is good, but after a few seconds, the light came back on solid and stayed on. I tried taking it off and putting it back on a few times with the same results. So, I let it charge. After about 6 hours the light on the Winder blinked several times and went out. The light on the charger is still red with a quick flash to green and back to red. It's been doing that for the last 2 and 1/2 hours and no change. Anyone have any idea about this? Is this the way the Winder is supposed to work?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Frank

I don't have experience with the winder so I can't comment on the behavior of the light on the unit itself, however, the quick flashing to green on the charger is normal, that is just the charger checking the voltage of the battery.

Vision Spinners do the same thing - probably a Vision product?? Toward the end of the charge the light goes out and the charger will go green and when you take it off the battery led flashes a few times - ready to go.

Thanks for the info Kent. Just wanted to make sure I didn't have a problem. Smoktech product, but could be made by Vision.

Could be or just the button head part is the same manufacturer.... who knows? :) You should be good though. That threw me off with the one vision vv that I have.

Kent has it right. The battery light will come on, white, and stay on until some state of charge is reached. After that, some time after, the charger light will occasionally flash green, then back to red. When it goes solid green, it's fully charged.

A 1300 can take several hours to charge. I think most list it as around 4, if you've used it to shutdown.

10 does seem a bit long. What's the rating on your charger? It needs to be 420 mA output (or a bit more - I have one that's 450 mA), at 5 volts. If you're using a 150 or 200, 10 hours is probably about right.

Output setting on the winder should have no effect on charging. That sets what the battery puts out when you press the fire button, and the charging circuit is separate. I leave mine - and my MVP and VV3 - wherever they were when last used.

Also, what are you using to source power to the charger? If a wall wart, check it's output as well.

I'm using an Ego charger that I ordered from Madvapes. It is supposed to be 420ma. I charged it on my laptop. I will try my wall wart next time. I've using the winder now. Will probably need charged tomorrow. Just got it Saturday. It came with a full charge. I ran it down over a 28 hour period and put it on charge. Been using the Twists since I put the winder on charge. Twist died today while I was out and I had the winder with me as a backup battery. The twists are getting pretty old. Don't hold as much charge as they used to. Always have to have a backup.

Anyway, I'll try the wall wart tomorrow after it dies and see how long that takes.

What are you plugging the charger into? Maybe it's not providing enough current. I have three 1300s, and from non-firing, none take more than about 4 hours to charge.

Or maybe try another charger? The aren't really high quality devices, and maybe it's just fading away...

Or maybe just clean all the contacts. Poor connection will impair charging.

I always clean the contacts in the batteries because my CE4's tend to leak a little once in awhile. The charger is about a month old, 420ma. I do have another that I bought at the same time that I haven't used. I will try it. I'm plugging them into a wall wart. Tried plugging into my computer too. Compared to the 10+ hours the first time, I thought I was doing pretty good. lol. 4 hours sounds a lot better. I also have a 300ma charger, but I'm sure that would take longer.

Thanks for the info. I'll report back after trying the other charger.
